Im 15, getting an MIP.. what do i do?

i was caught at school with a fifth (dont tell me im dumb, ive heard this already) and i was honest about everything, blew a 0, and my court date is soon, what do i do?
i need to know about probation, all the fees and what to say, please help

The consequences of MIP really depend on the state you are in!
NY can be pretty harsh on minors in possession of alcohol. The fact that you were caught with liquor in a school isn't going to help at all.
Probation is possible, the fines will probably go over $500. In a zero tolerance state a conviction might even cause your driving privileges to be suspended [I know, you were not driving ... in NY it would still happen].
After all of that, the school could still punish you for possession on school property.
The evidence is probably pretty strong, eye witness testimony and the bottle!
If you don't already have a lawyer ... at your first court appearance you should say "Your honor, I request a lawyer to assist in my defense." |

Pretrial Intervention since ur a minor i assume 1st offence u can opt for PTI Pre trial intervention which means u will goto counseling do some community service and maybe some restitution... then it will be exspunged off ur record but don'tn sweat it |

luckily you are fifteen, so this wont be on your permanent record, so dont sweat too hard. Just make sure that you show the judge how sorry you are, how much you regret what you did, that it wont happen again. Most importantly just do WHATEVER you can to stay in school. AND if you do get kicked out, make sure you find another highschool to take you. Its a stupid mistake yes, but we all make em so dont be too hard on yourself. Keep it honest, sincere, and apologetic and you will be ok. Probation seems harsh, but still, its only visiting some guy one a week, not too bad a punishment, and like i said, it wont stick with you after 18. |
