Im a 16 year old male and was molested by my 30 year old brother a little over a year ago. What can i do now?

You can still make a criminal complaint, if you're so inclined to do so.

I'm not sure about the legal culpability of your parents, though it's possible that there would be applicable charges. At the very least, they would probably have some serious explaining to do with the child welfare people in your area.

Your brother is another matter, though with a years gap and presumably no physical evidence, a case could be more difficult to prosecute. However, regardless of what may or may not happen on that front, you deserve to be heard and have the help you need to recover and go on from this.

You can go to a school counselor and report it, then file a police report and be put into foster care to finish out your education.

I am so sorry this happened to you. As to your parents, they can be forced to pay for your therapy and child support to the state while you are in foster care.

We can't choose our families, but we can choose to cut toxic people out of our lives then create a better life for ourselves. Tough, but it has, and can, be done.

Its too late man, what did you do tell the cops?! Dude if your parents know about this happening then yes they will be changed for not doing anything about it. But for the most part you brother will never talk to you and your parents... well I don't know. And what could've you have done the right thing "if" this was a person you don't know. But your own family man that is hard. I have one of my family members do the same to me but I didn't really care. But you brother is a fool because he is 30 years old and he could find anyone else around his age? So you really did the right things, but not the people that care about you. So itâ€™s a no win situation you are in. But in time all the wounds will get better

first id like to say that i'm very sorry that happened to you...

okay heres what happens... the statute of limitations has not expired so you need to get this to court. secondly, if your parents made you keep quiet about it... they will lose custody of you and your states child services department will take you in custody. The case will hit a speed bump right off the bat because they cannot hire a lawyers for both of you, especially him since he is an adult, and also that its a conflict of interest... to put it simply your parents cannot be involved in your or his defense in this case because of the facts you've mentioned... the state will give you a lawyer and you will be taken away from your parents because they made you hide it.

you definately should go foward with this even though it will caus a great deal of pain and suffering to you, your brother, and your family as a whole... but you must remember that its not your fault and that your brother must face justice for this... if he doesnt who knows who he might do this to next.

I think for you to attempt to defend yourself in a court of law where you know nothing about the law would be quite foolish. It is one thing to bring an accusation against someone, even if it is your own brother, and it quite another thing to prove your allegation in court.
I doubt very much that your parents could be charged unless it was proven beyond any doubt that they both knew about the situation and they were perverting the course of justice by lying and covering up for what you say your brother did to you, if that could be proven.
I think the best thing for you to do is to consult a counselor at your school and tell them the situation you are in.
Unfortunately, perhaps you were not given very good advice and hopefully a good counselor will advise you. If you are not familiar with all of the legal implications of representing yourself in court I would forget about that. A defense lawyer who knows their job would tear you to pieces and that would be even more dread-full for you.
