In a child abuse case do the parents go to jail?

If one or both of the parents are found guilty, then yes, the mom or dad or both will go to jail.
The abused child will initially be taken into protective custody by Children Services, before:
1) the child is placed in the care of a foster family .
or
2) the child is released to the child's closest relatives (after a proper screening of said relatives) In the case that it was only one of the parents that is found guilty, then the non-guilty parent will be granted access to care for the child once more
In both cases, a social worker will monitor and frequently check on the well-being of the child thereafter. |
