They charge it as apart of your monthly bill. They charge a smart fee, it's very little though.

If you pay your taxes. You are paying these fees yearly. There is no fee for them just showing up to your home. If you are transported or treated by an Ambulance expect a bill. Some fire departments charge when they respond for a false alarm call several times.

If the police or fire depts. come to your house because of a 911 call there is not a charge that I know of. However if ambulance service is needed you will get a bill for that.

depends on your phone company; look at the phone bill for possible 911 charges.

also: depends on where you live. use of the fire/police/emergency services may be sorta free (i.e., you pay for the service thru local taxes) or you may be charged for the visit.

you're definitely responsible for prank calls and may be fined on top of that.

not normally, of course you do pay taxes that pay for police and fire.

But also in some areas there is not a public fire department,but fire districts, and unless you are a member of that district, they will charge you a fee to come for a fire.
( you pay a yearly due to belong to the district)

If you have alot of false alarms they may place a charge.
Esp if you have an electric alarm system that keeps calling the police for no reason.

but in general no you don't pay anything.

The only time a Police Department of Fire Department will assess a fee is when 911 calls become abusive and or accesive. Otherwise taxes cover the cost of emergency services coming to your home.

Generally calling 911 is free to the caller. It is not free to the taxpayer. If you call an ambulance, then that is not free. If you call the PD, then that is generally free unless you are abusing the service. That is generally true for fire departments/Paramedic services. Some municipalities have instituted use fees for some services.

in most areas it's free. if you abuse 911 you can be arrested and charged with 911 abuse.

depends on which phone provider u have, if u r using ur cell phone then its not free, if ur using bellsouth is not free, if ur using comcast it should be free. other ones i dont know.

My area is getting countywide e911 later this year, and there is a 50-cent surcharge on our phone bills whether we use it or not. This is because e911 automatically traces your call so they have an accurate location of the emergency.

911 is not a free service, we pay for it in our phone bills and in certain areas through other taxes and fees. People who use it are not charged anything other than what I have said above along as it is not a prank call which gets into a legal problem.
