I been in the Army for 3 years and get out of the military in 6 months. I'm just wondering...are law enforcement departments looking for people who had prior military specifically?
Also..is law enforcement just like the military..job-wise that is? Which is more dangerous..being in the military or being in law enforcement?

Another question....Do you know any police departments that are very short on help & need to hire people kinda badly?

It's a double edged sword. Departments like a military background because it shows dependability, adaptability, some maturity and training. The downside is some are concerned with the after effects of combat soldiers adjusting to civilian law enforcement. I think your given the benefit of the doubt and everyone undergoes evaluation and a background check.

Law enforcement is not just like the military. It has some similar aspects. Being a cop is more dangerous than being an orderly room clerk. Its not more dangerous than being a forward observer. It all depends on what you did in the military and what city you are applying as an officers as to the danger equivalent.

Well I would assume military experience definitely wouldn't hurt. If you were sent into combat then the military is more dangerous if you weren't sent into combat then most like law enforcement is more dangerous. I guess it all depends on where you are a police officer.
