Darling, there is a simple delicious test for you to find out. Go to a police gear supply or military surplus store and see if they would sell one to you. If so, then it must be legal. If they sell the keys, they probably also sell the handcuffs as well, which are totally yummy! |

no, carrying a key is not illeagal, but if you attempt/attempt and succeed of breaking away from a cop, you will have committed a felony, which is 2 years for resisting. I am a cop, so i suggest that you dont try it. |

yes. not only is it illegal you could get into a lot of trouble is you were arrested and you got out of your cuffs. you would be charged with evading arrest on top of your first charge and the judges don't like people who try to escape. p.s. I'm a cop so i should know |

having a handcuff key is illegal... does not matter if the key is not for the use of a handcuff...
just having it on your is illegal.... you can get a arrested for it... or get a ticket depending on the officer...
most officer will not bother you if you have a cuff key.. just give a good reason y ... |

No, carrying a handcuff is legal, but not a very good idea if you are in jail or are in custody. Should you commonly carry one, and find yourself in police custody, you should immediately notify the arresting officer that you have it in your possession. There is no charge associated with possession of a handcuff key. |

it is unless your a police officer for real handcuffs but if they are for "other" reason i don't believe so.

I find this thread confusing. I know that from other threads that I have read on this subject, the opinion is that it is illegal in some states and not others to have a handcuff key on your person. this from different people claiming to be police officers. What I would like to know from a Massachusetts officer is weather or not it is illegal in the state of Massachusetts? |
