Only in the movies and tv.

No. You have to be physically printed or sampled. Unless you commit a crime, the possibility is slim that your DNA is in a data base; unless y ou volunteered it for id purposes in case of a horrific event (think WTC). A lot of people are fingerprinted, though, for work, licenses of various types, etc. Those prints would be available to law enforcement if they did a search on found prints.

No, fingerprint registration is done for various reasons.

From Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System or IAFIS:

"The IAFIS maintains the largest biometric database in the world, containing the fingerprints and corresponding criminal history information for more than 47 million subjects in the Criminal Master File. The fingerprints and corresponding criminal history information are submitted voluntarily by state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Criminal Ten-Print Fingerprint Submission

Fingerprints are acquired as a result of an arrest at the city, county, state or federal level. The fingerprints are processed locally and then electronically forwarded to a state or other federal agency system for processing. The fingerprints are then electronically forwarded through the CJIS Wide Area Network (WAN) to the FBI's IAFIS for processing. Mailed ten-print fingerprint cards are converted to an electronic format for processing in the IAFIS environment.

Civil Ten-Print Fingerprint Submission

Fingerprints are acquired related to a background check for employment, licensing, and other non-criminal justice purposes where authorized by federal and state law and in compliance with appropriate regulations. (To determine what occupations are authorized within your state, contact your state police or your state criminal history repository). Like criminal fingerprints, civil fingerprints are processed by local, state or other federal agencies prior to being submitted to the IAFIS for processing."

DNA is entered into CODIS (Combined DNA Index System).

Check the two sites below for more information.

Hell no, not everyone is registered, you have to have given your fingerprints at some point in your life for them to have a record

no, not everyones. That' a real lot of data. And DNA is still pretty expensive to analyze - at least for so many people as "everyone".

Fingerprints from a lot of people are in databases all over the world. but taking fingerprints is much easier than analyze DNA.

However - also fingerprints are only taken for a reason and if you have not given your fingerprint to anybody then it is in no database.

?
no not everyones, only those who have ever een fingerprinted, or had dna sample taken from them

I think in most states DNA is collected when you are convicted of a felony.

?
I think the governments is and has been working on a DNA database, but right now, the only DNA that is in a database is DNA collected from victims and criminals. As for fingerprints, if you have ever had your fingers printed for a crime or even for employment (especially a government job) your fingerprints are in a system. It would be a HUGE database if everyone's DNA and prints were in it, but would also be hard to keep up with as everyone born would have to be entered, etc. I think eventually the government will be able to get it done but it's a super huge task. You can put the DNA or prints of anyone into the computer system, but it would only pull them up if they are currently in the system.

likeitis
nope on the dna and fingerprints are only available of someone who has had them taken as the result of an arrest

No. Your fingerprints or DNA profile can only be stored by law enforcement organizations if you have been charged with and convicted of a crime, although they may also be held on record by some state-run certification offices (like the ones that issue alcohol licenses).

no the only way u are put into system is if you are connected to a case of some sort where they would need to test your DNA then you are in for good like the finger printing system
