Is it a part of police procedure to not let a person know that he's under investigation or the reasons for?

investigation, yet continue to collect data on him anyway for a prolonged period of time without his consent and without having him know who's doing it?

If it is yes, then does using that data to harass you and give it to people you know in order to have them harass you aid in police investigation? And is suspected, why isn't the person interrogated rather than kept in the dark without being able to argue his case?

Dude no many how many times you re-word this question the answer will remain the same.

Do you even understand what your asking think about it for a second?

If the police want to investigate you do you really think they notify the person... how does that make any sense?

I'm not trying to be rude but just think about it for a second man... what kind of investigation would it be if they announced to you they were investigating you?... it makes no sense

They almost have an obligation NOT to tell you. Telling you would allow you opportunity to destroy evidence or coerce somebody into not saying anything. Besides, if you are under investigation and they are watching you, they want to catch you messing up to beef up their case.

Keep in mind, they wouldn't be investigating you if they didn't have probable cause.

Scars on Broadway
They legally don't have to tell you until they take you to court.

On a good investigation, a person should not be aware that they are being investigated. Law Enforcement has the duty to use any and all legal means at their disposal in order to investigate criminal activity, up to and including going under-cover and posing as your 'buddy' to gain evidence for prosecution.

It has to be this way, or the system is useless.

Yes. Especially in drug trafficking and fencing operations, disability fraud, etc.

We do not have to tell you! If we talk to a person as part of an investigation, and he/she tells you about it, oh well, but it is not done for any reason other then to conduct an investigation!!!

Yes it is a part of police procedure. They usually do not let the person investigated know that they are being investigated. This would be wrong of them to let the person know especially if there is a serious crime going on. They do this with many people suspected of drug dealing and other crimes. The criminal should never receive a tip off as it is so-called from the police.
