This is absurd - people answering a question without knowing what a Special is. If you don't know the answer to a question, don't answer it.

A Special is a United Kingdom Police Officer, but a volunteer one. Almost all UK Police Forces have a cadre of Specials, as they're known, and they are often used for policing major events, for crowd control, for night patrols at busy times. They do not investigate crimes.

Specials are sworn Police Officers with the full range of powers enjoyed by regular Police Officers. It is *not* an offence to pose as a Police Officer if you are a Special, because you *are* a Police Officer.

There are too many americans answering a question for uk people only, no offence to our distant cousins, but its probably different there. In the UK a Special Constable is a sworn officer and has all the powers rights and abilities of any other police officer in the uk. the only difference is they dont get paid for it, which is jolly nice of them. Though its true they do not investigate crimes, this is not because they are not allowed to, its because if they only work one day a week, it means they are not in a position to properly investigate it, it would be unfair to the victim. - They are most definitely allowed to, and they are allowed to drive on blue lights and two tones, carry a gun or fly in a helicopter

For all you americans in the UK we have part time unpaid Police force called spacails and they are Police officers with the power to arrest, however they can not charge a person for crimes they have commited.

Why do you ask? It is always illegal to pose an officer of the law unless you really are a police officer.

Did someone pull the I am an undercover officer on you to get you to like them or to get your attention. I had that happen to me but at the time I believed him and so did my cousin but after I married him and learned about all the lies he told me and the patterns of his scams and so on I knew I been had. If you are not sure someone is an officer get a full name and badge number and call the precinct or district where they are supposed to work and check the credentials every one has the right to know if they are being played.

yes it is, though a special constable has the same abilities as a regular officer.

if you do and get caught then that's a felony unless you have a severe mental condition that has bin recorded since you can remember then you might get leniency

NO a Special constable IS a police officer if you walk up to a member of the public and tell them your police your not posing as an officer you are one

oh heavens what are you trying to ask special what..... Posing as a police officer is just not right no matter how special you are or think you are.

(a special constable whoever asked 'a special what?') And yes it is still an offense because you are not a police officer. You may volunteer to help out, and do some duties of a police officer, but doing the duties does not make you a police officer. Otherwise that could mean that vigilantes are police officers.
