Is it considered a crime if some person presents himself as policeman in your country? Does the police react?

I feel frustrated, because it seems that it is not considered by police to be a crime in the country I live.

I informed the chiefs of operative police about tricksters, who play policeman trying to get money, but papers reached an investigator only 40 days later and I received a letter at once, that no base to start an investigation... Because I have not negotiated with criminals and therefore can not name a sum of money they would want... What should I think?

In the U.S.A. it is a federal crime to imperssonate a police officer. However, it has to be implied or stated by the imperssonator. Just wearing a uniform that looks like a police officer doesn't count.

It's punishable by up to 30 years in prison and/or a heavy fine ($10,000 or more).

In the US it is illegal and is considered a felony (there was a rash of cases where people impersonating law enforcement committed crimes after getting people to open their doors that prompted this). The police react harshly because it causes a lot of mistrust among the public.

General rule. If someone claims to be a cop and pretending to be a cop isn't punished in your country, be very cautious when dealing with law enforcement.

In the UK it is illegal to pretend to be a policeman. It is also illegal to wear a polices uniform and it is actually illegal to own and Police hat and badge. THe only reason i know that is because when my brother was small he was given a police badge by a friend of ours and was then given a hat by the same person but told to keep quiet about it! (obviously not illegal iif you are acutally in the police force)

I LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES, AND IT IS A SEVERE CRIME TO IMPERSONATE A POLICE OFFICER AND THERE ARE STRICT PENALTIES AGAINST IT. HERE THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CRIMES OF THAT NATURE, MOST OF THEM WERE HOME INVASIONS. IF CAUGHT, THAT PERSON WILL BE PUT IN JAIL.

Here in the Philippines, it is considered a serious offense. (Violation of the Revised Penal Code of thePhil. - "Usurpation of Authority"). If a report is received by the Police, it will immediately be acted upon by apprehending the suspect/s and charge him in a court of law. Although, Phil. Police were famous doing unscrupolous things, I do still beleived that, majority of our Officers, Men and Women in the force were doing their job the right way, TO SERVE AND PROTECT the general public.
