Is it illegal if cops?

Okay so I get out the car after my boyfriend drop me at my home..a car rides by then stop another car stops and I don't walk across the apartment to get to my home b/c the car is in my way.They don't move so I go to the house and a man with a bullet proof vest steps out the regular car and ask me if I am with them?I look at him and keep walking and he and his other detective people or whoever goes to the car pull my boyfriend and his friend out tell my man to put his hands behind him in prayer position, handcuff him, search his car, tell his friend to get on the floor,find nothing, don't answer my man when my man ask why did they stop him he ask them 3 times no answer then say someone was shooting here and you moved in your car.EVERYBODY moves in their car.He put handcuffs on him for nothing.Can we sue?

Unless you have it recorded there is little you can do. False stop, File a complaint and keep it as a record. Let internal affairs know your position on there behavior. If sufficient people complained they would start to listen.

It sounds like they received a call for someone shooting a gun. Your car was the only one there so they searched the people and car for a gun. This happens all of the time in inner cities and the police do handcuff everyone just in case someone tries to run or break bad.

You can sue. Anyone can sue. But good luck finding an attorney.

You can try but you'll lose. ROSA. you are aware of this happens in neighbor hoods more often than you think. Police do get calls concerning shootings and they have a right to stop anyone that comes with in that area.they had to be there for some reason . they handcuff you for your protection . you can sue but first you have to find a lawyer .Cops cannot always tell who is loaded down with drugs or who might be a criminal just by looking at them, so they have to take precautions when the see any sort of activity that might seem the least bit suspicious.

What you should do instead is to thank the cops for doing their job. Stops like this make things safer for you. If you and your friend had been big time drug dealers the cops would have prevented any manner of bag things from happening. Luckily for you, you were not drug dealers. So instead of thinking about suing the cops, you should thank them for protecting you from criminals.

If you can not afford to pay a lawyer in cash you will not find someone to take the case and yes you would lose. You would be held accountable for all cost.
