My question asks nothing other than the legality of this action. You people assume I am asking because I am trying to decide whether to do it or not! People are so eager to judge! Sometimes a question is just a question. One that many of you obviously don't have a real answer for.

The "bird" was ruled long ago to not be an obscene gesture. I suppose you could find some officer who would get all upset over it. Guess I always just considered the source. If I had a dollar for every time I was threatened, my job was threatened, called names or spit on I'd be driving a new truck.

Why would you want to be disrespectful of an officer of the law. The stand between you and the criminals in the world.
Also doing so would give them a reason to detain you, then they will find are the stupid illegal thing you do. |

No it is not illegl, just stupid. There is also not a law against that cop watching you and waiting for you to do even the most minor little thing against the law. Hope you can afford the ticket that will be the direct result of that little moment of thinking you are cool |

Gray area here...an officer could ticket you for breach of peace, since making an offensive gesture in public in front of others (especially children) is an offense. You also risk the chance of getting the cop mad and getting a physical "warning" not to do it again. Either way, its prob not a good idea and pretty immature. |

It is no more than freedom of speech. In fact if a women can show her breasts on public as an expression of free speech and have it up held by the supreme court of the federal level. I am sure u can fly the bird when ever u want. Many are threatened by it but it means nothing more than f**k you. I can say that and not get in trouble. As far as disturbing the peace and affecting childrens minds. I would say tv and video games already teach and let them understand what is being done. |
