As long as your criminal record is clean, you are allowed.

However, your local municipality may have rules about how you have to store the arm. Check it out before you end up in trouble over something stupid.

I believe it is, in Tennessee anyway, handguns you have to be 21 but for long guns like shotguns and rifles its 18

getting out of control? the USA has always been like this. atleast now gangs dont all carry around fully automatic weapons like they did in the 30's-80's. some still do but its not as much as it was. plus a shotgun isnt going to protect you in public.

Yes, realize the murder capital of the US is Chicago. This has Democrat Obama as a community organizer, senator and now President, Democrat Mayor, Democrat City Council, Democrat County Organization, Democrat Governor, Democrat House of Representatives, Democrat Senate and guns were illegal in the City of Chicago though this is now in limbo due to the courts. The reason the US is getting out of control is because of Democrats having no respect for life and trying to make guns illegal. We take god out of school and then wonder why people don't have respect for life. Democrats push for everyone that wants an abortion to have one and Obama voted 3 times to allow children that survived abortions are are alive outside of the womb to be murdered. What do you expect from a society that chooses scum like this as it's leader. A man that would gladly murder born children living outside the womb, big surprise. Guess what change is coming to Washington DC and the rest of the country and it's the horrible change we're had in Chicago under Obama's leadership as well as his 100% Democrat Machine/Organized Crime group. Laws vary from state to state as to what you can buy at 18. I know Ohio you can buy a shotgun at 18 (cuz my brother did) but you can't buy a handgun until you're older - I forget, but I think it's 21. You can check with your local police for gun regulations.

Yes the world can be scary. The Wal-mart thing was mob mentality at it's finest - The mob is after what it wants (the cheap TVs etc), and broke down the doors, crushing that poor man to death. Unfortunately that was exacerbated (made worse) by Wal-mart's poor planning. Many stores that sell TVs or gaming systems that are in hi demand have people wait in line for a number and only let in a limited number at a time thus eliminating the door rush which is what happened at wal-mart (so in that case having a shotgun might only have caused further panic and more trampling). You can bet Wal-mart will change policies to avoid another tragedy.

As for protection from violent crime, if you want to get a gun, more power to you, but be sure to take a gun safety class as gun accidents in the home are every bit as fatal as gun crimes on the street. Especially if there's kids where you live make sure you have a gun safe or something to keep the gun and the bullets away from where kids could find it.

I think so. In my state (Oklahoma) a minor may own a gun but parent's must buy it for him/her. If the person is 18 they may buy a rifel or a shotgun and when they turn 21 they are old enough to buy a handgun. They also can get a permit to carry at 21.
