Is it ok to drink O'Doul's and drive?

There is a small amount of alcohol in non-alcoholic beers. This is due to fermentation, and is about 1/2 of 1%. Normal beers have around 5%.

This is technically illegal, so it becomes a discretion issue, and would definately vary between departments.

I personally would not ticket someone for non-alcoholic beer. That would be just a little too technical for me.

Hi Kimmers - It would almost be impossible to get drunk on them and since the state (New York anyways) does not classify them as an 'legal beverage' (ie: booze), it would not be illegal. However, expect to have a sobriety test anyway since the cop might thing you are just trying to use it as a cover - which is a great idea. (New york state is 18 to buy it but most store POLICY is 21)

If you want to go drinking let me know and I'll drive and make sure you are safely tucked in bed at the end of the night.

Depends how much you drink. And yes, that would be considered an open container.

Here in Arkansas they "canned" the open container law sort of. If you are caught on the highway or in public with alcohol in your system and an open container with you, you have just violated the "drinking in public or on the highway" law. So yes since O'Doul's has some alcohol in it, it is reasonable to expect a violation if you drink enough to register on the Breathalyzer. Remember you don't have to be intoxicated. That would be DWI/Public Intoxication which I'm sure you could never do on O'Doul's.

I believe O'Douls has a small amount of alcohol in the ingredients.... it won't get ya drunk, or even buzzed... but I think technically you are not allowed to drink it and drive....
It's the same law that applied to drinking robotussun and driving.

If you have to show an ID and be over 21 to buy O'Douls, I think you can still get a ticket for an open O'Douls while driving.

No you can't drink O'Douls and drive. You can't have an open container of it either. It still has alcohol in it. You must be 21 to purchase it.

I think it varies by local law, here it is considered open alcohol because it does state on the packaging that is has 0.5%....but I think most cops would be cool it about it

yes, even though its non-alcholic...its still considered a beer, just make sure you have a designated driver if your going to drink.

I would think not, but you never know. Anyway, for what possible reason would you wish to be drinking O'Doul's, much less while driving?

It would wrong to be drinking O'Doul's or any other beverage at the same time as driving because your full attention won't be on the road. If you get pulled over while it is open, I don't believe it would be an infraction because of the lack of ETOH.

NOPE! There's no detectable alcohol in O'doul's. I drink it in the summer. It doesn't make you drunk or even feel good. It's thirst quenching and no more potent than a glass of Pepsi

O'douls has no alcohol, so you could drive. The officer might want to check to see if you have put something else in the bottle, though
