Anything is possible. Just keep in mind the ramifications. |

Only if you don't have a liscence plate, have a car that can outrun a helicopter and/or a small plane, and have driving skills that would put Mario Andretti to shame... |

yes. Drive real, real fast. Hit a bridge abutment. They can't get you when your dead.!
You win!!! |

Chances are so tiny, and risks so great, there's really no point doing so.
Reason: There's dozens of them, and only one of you. And they can talk with each other and coordinate. You are all alone.
Reason: They have spike strips, which destroys even run-flat tires. Run-flats don't work at high-speeds any way.
Reason: They have helicopter(s) which will outrun just about everything, and you can't hide from that.
Reason: any mistake on the suspect's part means a LOT of innocents could get hurt.
It's actually much easier to duck police if you can open a little bit of distance and duck into a parking garage which connects to a lot of different places, like airport, mall, etc. However, nowadays those places are full of video cameras, so that ain't going to help much, unless you really really got away quickly and changed clothes and disguises between camera coverages. |

Highly unlikely. |

I'm sorry to say this.. but you may just be a curious person wondering the probability on this.. but this is really a dumb question.... Cops have radios,.. GPS.... other cops.... phones... cameras.... NO!.. and if you run you can be considered adding a felony to your record for failure to stop. Stay out of trouble.. don't break the law and you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Get a good education. |

Possible, yes. Likely, really depends on when, where, etc.
In urban areas it much less likely given helicopters, multiple cares, etc. You can' outrun radio.
Its dumb to begin with. |

You might outrun the cars but you won't outrun Motorola. |

It happens, but remember there are license plates. |

You can't outrun a radio. People always get caught, not always during the pursuit. Expect the police to be knocking at your door at least by the next day. |

while it may be possible to outrun the police car....its Impossible to outrun the police radio |

Take your liscense plates off cuz they can look you up, also if you are in a major city with a helecopter, good luck! |

It happens occasionally nowadays but very rarely. Helicopters can follow from a distance and heat cameras and other devices can track easily.
But think - most of those that escape the high speed chase are the ones that do so as all those horrible tearing metal and smashing sounds of the fatal crash are ending!! |

You must get away in the first 5 min or you are done. You would have to disable or force the initial police car to deal with something more important than you. You must then get off the street. |

of course |

not unless you know how to drive better than cops do |

Only if you're in a stolen car. They already have the license plate called in before you even know they want you to stop.
If that's the case, you might get away, but it'll have to be before the help he's sure to have asked for has arrived. When you see the second police car or the helicopter, you have to know you're on film and less likely to escape than you are to be on national TV when you drive the car into a silo full of cow manure. |

Yes, it is possible, however the chances of it are slim. If a person shows that they are willing and ready to injure innocent bystanders during the pursuit, then the police department will discontinue the pursuit, or at least allow the suspect to believe they have. Choppers have proven to be an incredible asset to police departments, and can track a vehicle from distances that would allow a suspect to think no one is watching. Worse case for the police, they break the pursuit in full, no chopper follows, no cars track. They take what info they have and start in on locating the person, and most all the time, they will find you.
I'm sure there have been cases in which someone has gotten away from the police clean and clear. but the downfall lies with the driver, most people panic when they don't stop, they don't think, they just drive, and that is what allows time for police to coordinate and box them in. if an individual were to be able to break a pursuit by losing visual contact with the police cruiser within 2 minuets, then he MAY stand a chance. But, the smart move, is to obey the law, and don't run from the cops, life ain't like the movies, and the average person sure a hell doesn't have the training or experience to drive like you see people do in the movies. To be able to outmaneuver police effectively, you would need years of Advanced Driving tactics and Maneuvers training, and trust me, even then it would be no walk in the park. |

i think its possible if you have a fast car and a full tank of gas. but later on you might end up getting busted. |

You bet, nothing is guarantied in a high speed pursuit. Shows like Cops where they get they man tend to give a false idea of real police work. |

It's possible, just not very likely. Chances are you would end up being caught. You could run but not for very long. Your one car against an entire police force, plus units form other jurisdictions.
Chances are you would wreck and kill yourself or someone else, and as soon as you wrecked the boys in blue would be waitng for you. |

Yes, many criminals have done this. |

Yes, it happens all the time. They just don't show them on cops or shows like that because they don't want to encourage people to do it. I have a friend who has ran and escaped from the cops no fewer than 6 times. |

You might elude the pursuit but you won't get away. Drunks especially tend to drive home, only to find the cops waiting there. |
