If you want to be a Police Officer then why would you lie anyway? Honesty and integrity is essential. Basically it will be up to the Department's review board. Best bet is not to lie. They will find out and you will be eliminated from employment if you are caught.

Yes. It depends upon what part you fail.

First of all Polygraph test are not entirely accurate. False Positives and False Negatives occur about on up to 5% of questions. Friend got polygraphed for his public job, and lied on fairly often and has never gotten caught. Polygraph test are a joke and are unreliable.
