cheap, non-police issue handcuffs, no problem, I've done it myself, but military or police issue cuffs are quite a different story , they are more complex than a hairpin or paper clip can handle.

You have to double up and twist the paper clip to make it strong enough.

It would depend on the quality of the lock. On handcuffs used by the Police, its highly unlikely, probably impossible =)

Sure it is possible but not probable. cuffs are a temporary restraint device used by an officer who has taken a suspect into custody or for added restraints when transporting prisoners from one facility to another.

It is possible to pick the cuff lock provided that the other safety precautions are not in play and if the suspect who is cuffed was not searched (which is never) and he had some device that he could get his hands on during the period of time that he or she was being detained.

You need to understand that motion pictures and TV programs are entertainment not reality. Hollywood always makes such situations appear to be easy when in reality it is more fantasy. The handcuff is only a tool used in connection with the other training techniques that officers are trained and equipped to use.

Don't mistake entertainment with that of actual departmental training procedures.

Yes it is possible the locks on most handcuffs are very simple most have a small hole which if the small pin at the top of the key is used can double lock them .It is rarely used as cuffs are generally used as a temporary restraint.Prison service cuffs usually have a much more complex lock which cant be picked.

Yeah it would have been years ago but like someone else said, the locks these days are a bit too advanced for it.

It is possible to pick a really cheap pair of handcuffs, the higher dollar cuffs are very difficult to pick.

even if it was possible, we will never know for sure because the police won't want such information sent out because it almost renders handcuffs useless. But with the things we're doing know days, I'm sure such a thing is possible!

Depends, on real police cuffs No, but on cheaper ones used for anything from those "Magic Cuffs" to "Lock up your friends" it should work easy.
