Is it true that in only in California you can go to jail for doing a wheelie or stopie?
|
I live in California and I just started riding street bikes or crotch rockets, anyways I love street bikes but the only problem is I can't do wheelies or stoppies even if my life depended on it. I know its really sad cause I feel like I am the only street bike rider that can't do wheelies or stopies. But then I heard if a cop sees one of the wheels come off the ground that an automatic jail time and reckless driving ticket and I believe its only in freaking California? So is it true that if I try to do a wheelie Iam going to jail, and if I do go to jail for how long? I am guessing its for a day or two and they take the bike away. So if its illegal to do wheelies how I am I supposed to learn? And where? I hate freaking California, Is there any state where its legal to do wheelies without getting on trouble or at least without jail time and bike taken away? Anyways I would greatly appreciate if you answer my questions, thank you.

Yeah Unfortunately, if you do a wheelie or stopie anywhere in the US, you will most likely get arrested for reckless driving and public endangerment and speeding ect. I personally believe that as long as you are being safe about it, it should be legal. The only person that you are going to hurt doing these stunts is yourself in most cases. Motorcycles tend not to hurt cars very much. YOu might be lucky in rural areas where cops are more relaxed.
The most legal ways to pull stunts is dirt biking first off but that's very expensive. The best way to learn balance though is on a dirt bike rather than a street bike because landing is dirt is slightly more forgiving and less costly than laying down a brand new bike. |
