no, but neither are illegal drug manufacturers.... its a close fight. the punching (if you will) is going on back and fort.... one day you get a large cocaine bust in the news.. the other day you find that someone died of cocaine overdose. I hate it when ppl say we, as society, are losing the war on drugs. Hell no we aint losing! Just go to one of the jails in the US, filled with the worst of the worst in jail, where they belong! to see that the bad guys are also hurting. So no, we are not winning, but neither are they, and we are sure taking the fight to them...... hopefully we'll ko all those scumbags into hell in the near future!

The War on Drugs started in 1972.
35 years later, there are 10 times more drugs available, and all are WAY cheaper than back then.
Ergo, the War on Drugs is a complete failure on every level.
This is what happens when Republicans are allowed to make policy.
One cannot legislate morality, people are going to drink, smoke, get high, gamble and fool around, there's nothing God or the law can do about it.
Only Republicans are stupid enough to try.

As far as achieving the objectives grandstanding politicians shill about "saving our children" and "keeping our streets safe" and all--yeah, right! I don't Bill Maher to make me laugh hard on that joke but he can make me laugh even harder.

As far as getting ever-increasing budget appropriations for spy-toys and more personnel, yeah, they're winning alright. They also "winning" by being allowed to STEAL private property.

War on drugs is a catchy phrase that some politician thought up to help get elected. Making drugs illegal has had the same effect that Prohibition did. It took a pack of cheap punks and made them rich men.

It's impossible to "win." All they can do is keep doing what they're doing. As long as there are gangs and people buy their drugs, and as long as the punishments aren't harsh enough, there's going to be drugs everywhere.

No, not even close. First law inforcement would have to admit failure. They should legalize marijuana first and tax it, this will successfully take away a multi-billion dollar industry from drug traffickers and gang bangers. This will also give the government billions in dollars of revenue, no new taxes for everyone else just smokers. Then they could start to address the harder drugs and the best way to enforce the current laws or how to implement leagalization of other drugs.

I don't think so... I know it's on a low. But busting kids with 20 bags of weed is not stopping the problem. The problem is who is bringing it into the country and then selling pounds off to jo blow who in return is selling ounces john black who is selling it to kids.... instead of a $50 violation fee they should make to go for treatment. I think cops are winning the war on writing tickets... but not making big time bust on any big time drug.
