Is "profiling" a good thing?

Like as in the "Profile" of drunk drivers because they MAY cause a car crash, even tho they didn't do it yet. Same as in blacks 12 to 40 year old black males, 50% haven't done anything wrong, yet, but they may (will), don't kid your self over what I just said. Only 15% of drunk drivers cause crashes, but over 50% of blacks aged 12 to 40 commit crimes, this is fact and you know it. This is not a "rant" or "Violation", just fact. Google "Color of Crime" on this. Yes my "Grammar" will be attacked, like as in "Kill the Messenger". Just what did I say that isn't fact? XOXOXOXOXOXO Fred

Waco, only 12% of Whites in that age range have a criminal record, but over 50% of blacks are either in prison or on some kind of court thing, probation, jail or pending...FACT.

i would bet that close to 50% of white people age 12-40 will commit a crime in that time frame.. they may not commit as many, and may not commit the same kind of crime and may not get caught as often, but they will commit a crime... and if you think about it; considering the population of white people compared to black people in the united states is much higher, in actuality white people commit more crimes then black people; perhaps not as high of a percentage though

The more a group is watched, the more chance of catching them doing something illegal.

The fact that 12 - 40 year old white males aren't watched as much , may keep them from being charged but doesn't mean they aren't committing crimes. :)

I think u can answer that question. However, the real question is whether these racial biases that do occur in society actually gives people a false sense of assurance.

Not to call you dumb or anything, but if you take a minute to think about it there is a large difference between the way alcohol relates to car accidents and the color of someones skin relates to criminality. Drunk drivers aren't profiled, they are caught and apprehended because they have broken the law. Driving with a BAC above the per se level of impairment (as set down by statute) is illegal because alcohol CAUSES car accidents. Even though not all drunk drivers may get in to an accident, they ALL have an equal increase in their chances of getting into an accident, some get lucky, other dont. Racial profiling, on the other hand, is both wrong and not effective in reducing crime because unlike the way in which alcohol CAUSES an increased risk of accidents, the color of someone's skin does not CAUSE them to commit crimes; at most, it may be slightly correlated to their statistical likelihood of becoming involved with the CJ system. Whereas any given individual who drinks alcohol will be a greater danger on the road than they would be when sober, it can not be said that any individual person of any color is any more or less dangerous than any given individual of any other color.
