The McCann's are professional people, Gerry McCann is a Consultant Cardiologist at Glenfield Hospital in England and Kate McCann was a Medical Practitioner at a surgery in Melton Mowbray in England.
They are therefore far more able to articulate themselves and to launch a worldwide appeal using the media than many other parents who have lost children.

It would appear she is......Its kinda sad that some children get more of a spotlight than others.
The parents in this case should be charged with neglect. Children this small should never be left alone.
I do not care if they were attending a get together....or the local bar down the street....it was just wrong!! |

A lot of people in Portugal and the UK are getting tired of it all. It doesn't come accross that they are being honest about events, even if only as to how long she was left unattended. Of course giving full honest accounts to the Police would help, but they baulked at the chance of doing that. |

It is newsworthy because the parents were suspects, treated like suspects and then cleared.
They are on Oprah because people like to watch. TV shows want people to watch that way they can charge more for advertising. A good producer picks stuff that will get people watching.
As far as I know Oprah is a TV show, not a government organization dispensing news items.
Having high class English accents makes them more desirable on US TV. |
