No, it's just easier to access information these days, and to get information into the public eye.

There's also a media bias from some sources, violence gets more attention than a nice story, so violence tends to get more coverage and most of the nice stories get missed out on.

No. It's just that modern technology has made it possible to kill larger numbers of people at once, or in a short period, but the history of the world is a bloodbath, and comparisons are relative.

I don't know about the world, but I bet the country is definitely a lot more violent.
Time's change, for sure.
There is a lot more drug use, a much more violent culture, and a lot of clashing between those living in poverty, than say 50 years ago.

Back in the day's, even the gangs were a lot more innocent than they are today. Gangs were limited to the big cities like New York, LA, Chicago, Dallas, etc, and they would rumble, fight with knives, maybe the occasional revolver.

Then in the 80s-90s, America got introduced to cheap, hard drugs like crack.

All of a sudden the innocent gangs fighing over turf became businessman, and tough ones. They traded in their baseball bats, brass knuckles, and .38s for Uzis, AK-47s, and even grenades!

Plus, gangs aren't confined to the big cities anymore. Theyve spread out to suburbia and beyond.

So yeah, that raises crime quite a bit. Serial killers, murderers, random killings? That's always been around.

But now violence has become something of a business with so many more drugs in our society than there was a few decades ago.

And no..its not tied with illegal immigration..those people just want to work. It's American poverty that in a way spawned a violent culture.

Very much more so. It started going slowly downhill back in the late 70s, and has now gotten to the point of ridiculous.

The ,,hunger,, of media and technology available to its disposal,allows to ,,cover it all,, , basically, so we know almost instantly,what and where is this happening, even in the most remote areas of the world. but, there is another aspect - we have developed weapons, which kill hundreds of people in one hit and the average death-toll/year, is by far, highest in history. wars and violent acts done, say in 19Th century, were fought in most cases one on one, maybe occasional use of dynamite here and there and of curse, no media satellites then, to inform us.

Then we have the public hangings and executions, many of innocent people, the Inquisition...
More recently, we had our own witch trials under 200 yrs ago.

Being one of the last nations on earth that promotes the death penalty, I'd say everyone else is moving ahead controling violence, but us. And still, it is nothing like it was hundreds of years ago

yes it is for sure ........i guess at my age i see that for sure.....why...........because of less morality now......just let the kids do what they want and all will be good , ya right it shows . thats here for sure the u.s. now you have the same crap .........someone wants power and to hell with the people so sure dicators are born then they are like little rats and keep chewing and chewing ....they are rich and the people are poor .............the last reason to me is the press its all over now and what ever the problem they get it on the air . wheither is true or not . in a lot of cases.

Yes way more than before.used to be when i had a beef with a friend or neighbor we could punch it out ' whoever fell down first they would have to apologize' now if someone thinks you looked at them the wrong way' they want to shoot you with the AK-47..It makes me scared to see my nephews world when he grows up as he just turned 6.
