Is it true that if you get pulled over and put your keys on the dashboard of your car and put your hands on the wheel, the officer will automatically now you have a close police officer relative and they will not give you a ticket?

I don't really think they'll assume you've been pulled over many times before - they'll just realize that someone (a family member) gave you a little tip to use. I live up north in Maryland and I've heard it works up here and in a lot of the South. I doubt it really works anywhere else. |

No, they will think you have been pulled over before and know the procedure. |

I doubt there's any signal. And if you do that, like Eddy said, they'll assume you've been pulled over a good amount before, and that's never a good assumption to have police officers be thinking about you. |

Nope. There's no signal. The driver would just verbally inform the officer if he/she is family. |
