I imagine a jacket with knife-like needles that stick out from all directions, making a small person more defensible from physical attack. If such a coat could be designed, would it be legal?

just how much are you being attacked? is this a daily thing? will a jacket be enough? what about a head piece and leggings, full porcupine armor? |

I kind of doubt it. After all if you walk around with an unsheathed knife in public people are going to feel scared for their safety. A whole bunch of knives would be right out; a number of small, sharp needles all pointing outward, well, maybe. I know it would be illegal in some larger metropolitan areas (e.g. Chicago) because carrying any kind of weapon there is illegal. (Even pepper spray.)
Keep in mind also the possible consequences should you, say, trip and fall and use your hand to break it. Kind of an awkward thing to explain to the paramedics. |

The legality doesn't come into question in public, rather in places that may prohibit weapons. I suppose if all of the knives were of legal order in the place that you wore the coat, there wouldn't be grounds for arrest. |
