Is there such thing as a perfect crime?

The more I study law and various cases, I am convinced that there is no such thing as the perfect crime. Many criminals feel they can out smart the law enforcement, by destroying evidence, lie, and deceiving, but in the end it always come back to them. Especially now with all the advancements in forensics, it is almost impossible not to leave a trace of yourself behind, anywhere you go, plus I always believe the streets are always watching. What I mean by that is that no matter where you go someone is always watching. With that being said how many feel that there is such thing as the perfect crime?

Cross, I might have to agree with you there. As for the comments about the Big 3, I have to say that I am a bit partial to them, not the CEO's but the Big three as a whole, they have provided me with a great life, both my parents were engineers and employees of GM for 30 years. I will agree that there is many faulty practices that need to be reformed quickly to the sake of the company and our country.

Even with all the advances in technology, a lot of criminals get away with things; I recall a study which said that many delinquents had committed up to hundreds of crimes before first getting caught.

A perfect crime, which leaves behind absolutely NO evidence probably is pretty much impossible, but I'd imagine it's still very much possible to commit a crime, and leave no evidence which can outright prove you guilty.

Technically perhaps a truly perfect crime would be one in which the theft was never detected in the first place. So we could never truly know.

Teekno
The perfect crime is one that isn't even detected.

So, if there ever was a perfect crime, we'd never know about it, or how it happened.

Yes. The automakers that make crap for cars. Treat the employees like crap while they live lavishly. Then claim they are broke and want handouts from the government.

Juan Moore Beer
Go study the guys that raped the mortgage and credit industries. Th only reason that their actions may not qualify is that society wasn't smart enough to say what they were doing is a crime.

jan
There probably is, but the more perfect a crime is, the less we know about it. In the perfect plan the criminals are sure that the victims won't go to the police.

If a perfect person committed a crime, then the crime could be perfect. However, humans are imperfect, and so... we can never plan for all the variables we encounter when attempting to commit a crime.

So- my thoughts-The is no such thing as a perfect crime.

Here are the ingredients for the perfect crime:

1. Your name is Michael Jackson.
2. Your name is OJ Simpson
3. You have tons of media coverage
4. You can afford a ridiculously paid lawyer
5. You just plain don't get caught.

Tecken
I think that there is a perfect crime! but either we don't realize that it has happened or the person doesn't get caught and because he/she is not a serial killer he/she doesn't commit the crime OVER and OVER again until they finally get caught. Which always happen in the end if you don't stop.

there is defintly a perfect crime. Its one you probably woln't ever hear about, as in the simple thing that makes it perfect is they criminal doesn't get caught.

Or to stage evidence as to throw a trial at the time the crime is commited, such as in the movie ??? with Anthony Hopkins.

There are plenty of people who commit all sorts of crimes that never get caught. As for being perfect, the level of perfection is only measured by the level of skills of those trying to solve the crime.

Nobody ever went to prision for killing Jimmy Hoffa..

yes,virginia
I don't think there is. Sometimes people don't get caught but it's not because the crime was perfect. It's because someone missed something.

CFG
Any crime I have ever committed was PERFECT.

No I am just kidding.

I think that same thing.

Love Canada
Of course there is, and you won't find the evidence of it, because that is what makes it perfect

I don't know if you want to call this a "perfect crime" but research the "Black Dahlia" from California in 1957. As noted by others, when a criminal repeats crimes, he is caught due to MO. The Black Dahlia was a one time crime and even using today's forensics, enough clues were not left at the scene or on the body for the murderer to ever be found.

In my way of thinking, that is an example of a perfect crime due to the fact that NO leads were ever discovered and the murderer is still undiscovered 51 years later.

Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you
