Is this a good way to stop your car getting stolen in the UK?

About 4 years ago we got new neighbours. When I saw the car on the drive had a little Jamaican flag sticker in the windscreen I was expecting the new people to be black.

It came as a real surprise when they both turned out to be white. When I asked about the sticker, the guy said "Oh I just put that there to stop it getting stolen," He went on to say "I can leave that car anywhere and nobody touches it."

What do you think, racist nonsense or crime prevention?
Additional Details
He says he's been doing it for about 15 years and has never had a car stolen or broken into in all that time.

Interesting concept. Not something I've heard of before but if it stops you becoming a victim of crime then its a good idea.

I would much rather prevent crime than react to it.

As for it being racist, I have to disagree. Displaying a national flag isn't racist as far as I can see.

Why on earth would a Jamaican flag stop a car getting nicked? I know as well as anyone else about organised crime, but having an Italian flag on a car would not stop it getting stolen just because the Mafia are Italian.

Did it work ? Well, I hope its not true anyway because that really doesn't say much for society. I think that its just racist nonsense personally as if he keeps it locked and has alarms etc it's not going to get stolen anyway whether he has the sticker or not.
