My boyfriend and an (ex) friend of mine had a physical fight, which was quite brutal, I must say. It was disgustingly bloody and it was terrible to watch. My (ex) friend brought a large kitchen knife to the fight, which meant he planned on stabbing my boyfriend. Anyhow, the cops were called by a neighbor, and when they arrived and they put me in the back of a patrol car, I cried hysterically, and I was even a bit angry. I am sixteen years old, and I have never been in trouble with the law in my life, so this came as a great shock to me. Not only that, but someone could have been really seriously injured. My boyfriend is now furious with me, and won't talk to me because he said I acted "immature" and I cry too much. What do you all think? What should I say or do?

Sounds like your boyfriend is the immature one. He brought his girlfriend into a place where a fight (the cops were called) took place (putting you in danger) and HE is MAD at YOU ? Sounds like you saw some of his true colors - and he will not change. Now he is even giving you the "silent treatment".
You can walk away heart-broken and you will soon find someone else. Or, you can hang with this guy, deal with his insecurities, get your heart broken (hopefully that is all that he breaks) and get shoved away. Neither choice is easy, but you can cut your losses now. You are 16 years old and have a boyfriend that will only lead to trouble.
The cops probably thought you had gotten in over your head. They probably would have cut you some slack if possible. However, the next time they see you in a similar situation - they make think that you were just trying to "play" them. You will get treated differently after that. |

It is perfectly okay for you to cry. I'm sure the Officers have seen people behave much worse. Your boyfriend should get over it and understand that you were scared. |
