When I was a kid in school I had to read books by Maya Angelou like "I know why the caged bird sings," and other black culture books. Can someone be arrested for forcing me to do this?

I also had to read Malcom X and learn that my ancestors were Devils.

No. Child abuse is hitting someone or putting them in a physically dangerous situation. It can also be mental abuse. Having you read great works of literature (which the titles you mentioned fall into) is a privilege and is not abuse.
Also, if you read Malcolm X properly, you would not have come to the conclusion that white people are blue eyed devils. Malcolm X believed that once, but he went beyond that by the time his autobiography was written.
Actually, I would say that anyone who does not expose their children to other cultures is doing a great disservice to the child. Obviously, we have to live with these other cultures around us, so we should learn something about those cultures so as to better interact with people who live in those cultures. This is not to say that understanding their cultures undermines your own. You should be proud of your culture. But if learning about other cultures makes you insecure about your own, then there is either a problem with your own culture or your own views of your culture. |

Could be...all depends on the amount of force that it was applied. I would tell my parents, and allow my father to discuss this with the school administrator if I believed that I was being forced to learn a mindset that conflicted with my morals/religion and principals |
