Stealing is taking something that does not belong to you without the owner's permission. So, yes, taking the bike is stealing. |

If you have to ask then you already know the answer.
If you picked it up and went to the Police Station to say it was abandoned then no. |

does the bike belong to you?????? if not then yea you just stole a bike there could be hundreds of reasons y its laying on the side of the road. maybe the rider was kidnapped or hit by a car or maybe he was picking flowers in the field or maybe someone else stole it and dumped it there..... i always tell my kids if its not yours dont touch it |

depends where you are, in the UK i'm not entirely sure if it would be stealing, depends how you found it, because when it comes to legislation on theft, theres a section which states that the perpetrator, to be guilty has to believe that it would be highly difficult and unlikely to find the owner of the property, it's not theft if you keep it, generally this is refered to in the case of lost property. |

this is a very deep question that is hundreds of years old. it even goes back to when i was a child. most kids could testify in court honestly to the opinion that is been tested to the highest standards of law. this opinion is call the ( finders keepers losers weepers). i dont believe modern courts would hold this theory up to standards today i think you would go to jail. |

No.
Take it.
Actually, i would say if it had been there for a long amount of time (days) and was plain to see that it had been abandoned i dont thint it matters. But if you saw the guy get off and go in the local quicky mart then yeah, that would be stealing. |

If it is not yours and you take it, it is stealing.
If the property is abandoned, call the police and report it. Most agencies will have you fill out a found property claim form and, if no one steps forward to claim the bike, you may have a legal right to claim it. Then it will not be stealing! |

Yes. Even if the owner is a total dunce and leaves his/her bike unlocked, it technically is stealing. It's not yours. Don't touch it. There you go. |

Its still stealing regardless of how reckless the owner was. |
