im bring a quarter across state lines and in NC, for personal use not to sell or anything, since im not from the state could they charge me with trafficking if i was caught

The state lines, are governed by the Interstate Commerce Act.
Which is controlled by the Federal Government, which is enforced by the BATFE (ATF), or DEA, or both?
Usually they are looking for bigger fish but; sometimes small bait needs to be used, to catch the big ones? |

trafficking is based on the amount and packaging of the product, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the physical movement of a product. Just to explain this, if you had a single rock of crack in your pocket and drove across the united states, could you consider this trafficking in cocaine, absolutely not. Even though you did in fact move an illegal drug across multiple state lines, the physical quantity is too small. Now, if you had three thousand rocks, even if you never crossed state lines and it sat in your living room, this would be trafficking due to the amount and the intended use of the product would be assumed to be resale as the amount is so great. |
