It definitely sounds like the police officer could have been a little nicer. Maybe he had a rough day, or he could be one of those cops that are sometimes seen in police brutality videos. You should appeal this ticket and complain, if the paper from DMV was truly legitimate. |

Your car is still unregistered. You may have paid the reigistration fees but until the car gets smogged too, the car is still considered unregistered. If you look at the registration reciept the DMV gave you, it says right on top "this is NOT a permit to operate the vehicle".
Unitl you get that magic sticker 2009, your car is not registered. As for impounding your car, unless your car is 6 months over due on registration, your car won't get imponded.

Your recourse is to fight the ticket in court. The judge will look at what the DMV gave you and if what you say is correct, would dismiss the ticket, and probably have a few unkind words for the cop. Only then should you consider taking it further. You can then file a complaint against the cop. There is a procedure for this, and set forms for you to fill out and submit.
Do not call the police station and make a verbal complaint, and do not make any kind of a complaint until after such time as you have prevailed on the ticket in court.
Before your do go to court, make sure your DMV paperwork actually says what you say it does. You cannot win without proof. |

if you get a written letter from the DMV stati hat then you can take it to court and have a case. the cop cannot do that if the dmv allows you to drive without registration. i would go into dmv and explain to them what is going on, and see if they will give you a written letter to take to a judge. although they might get you for not getting that letter before driving. but who knows... if you win you dont have to pay. |

go back to the dmv and ask for a temporary sticker. you may have seen cars that have a square sticker with a number on the back of the window. Go to court and plead not guilty and ask for a court date. show the judge the letter from the dmv and it should be dismissed. dont even bother calling the cop. |

You legally can't drive if you don't have proof of registration, even if its on the way. For some things like this, you need to wait until everything goes through, and its best to be safe than sorry. Its just one of those confusing DMV things, like not being able to drive to the DMV to pick up your license. |

As I full-time cop, I can tell you that nearly everyone that I stop has some sort of excuse or reason why they don't deserve a ticket. The cold hard truth is that we just can't give everyone a break. If you didn't have the documentation that you are required by law to have in your state, then yes, you deserve the ticket. I'm sorry to be blunt. |

Simply call the traffic court that is on your ticket, or letter if you already received it, and explain it to them. They'll have you bring in your registration when you get it. No big deal. |

Next time you go to the DMV ask them about it, or call the police office or whatever and try to work it out. |

wait until the court date, and tell the judge what happened. tip, make sure that you have the money for the fine, in case that it doesnt work, because you might go to jail if you dont have the money that day. |

Complain. My suggestion would be to go to the DMV and ask. They'll tell you. Or go to the poliece and be sure to talk to the guy in charge. |

Sure. Appeal the ticket to the court that oversees the citation. The contact info is on the cite. If everything went as you explained, the citation can be vacated (thrown out) by the judge. I occasionally write citations to people who do not have proof of insurance in their vehicle, but do have insurance . They take the citation to the court and if they can prove they were insured when they were cited, it gets tossed, after the judge chews them for not having their proof of responsibility as required. This may be similar. As for the cops attitude, he may just be an a**hole. There are more than a few who have badges. |

take it to court and tell the judge. i know what you mean, cops are punks that try to act all big and bad. our country is a police state or on the way there and it wont stop until we stand up for ourselves |
