Some of my friends have been setting up facebook accounts under celebrities and they have been acting like celebrities. I was just wondering .. is this illegal? I mean, I know IM not doing it . I never would. But for my friends sake.. is it illegal?

Of course it's illegal, and your friends are going to be in big trouble if the celebrities find out - they will sue for sure, if not take some sort of legal action against them. It's okay to have a made-up online persona, but when you start taking on the identity of an actual person other than yourself, that's identity theft for starters. Celebrities have enough problems with publicity as it is - your friends are not making this any better by trying to be who they aren't. Best tell them to cool it before they get into a situation that's going to land them in a lot of trouble and possibly cause them to get into some real legal trouble. |

It is ilegal. The celebrity can sue your friend for misuse of his name, picture, etc.

yes, this is illegal, but I highly doubt they will crack down to your friends. but if you read the terms of use, it will say in there. this would be impersonating a celebrity. |

Well, It is Illegal, but, it is very hard for Facebook to take legal action and they probely won't, And besides most people will know it is not the actual celebrity and just a impersonator, like your "friend" |
