wow, if i caught that cop talking to my kid like that i would have knocked his fat *** out and gladly taken the jail time for it so my kid can see that you dont let anybody talk to you like that, especially some overwieght meter maid. that kid wasnt dont anything wrong. wow they had skateboards big deal. if thats illegal then lock them up dont verbally abuse some 14 yr old kid. im sure his own children hate him. and this is america where we have free speech. if i want to call an officer dude or man there is no law against that. im sure he's a screw up cuz they only put the dumbf*cks in shorts and a golf cart. im glad they got this on video and im glad he was suspended. he should be ashamed of himself and i hope he learned HIS lesson from this |

Don't judge all police officers by the action of one. And no most do not have a god complex, just the ones who make it to youtube. That is a small fraction of the honest men and women who protect and serve us everyday.
You think you can do better? then go through an academy and work as a cop. |

I'm appalled! Just what exactly did the boy do wrong??? He got all chewed up for calling the officer dude? The boy was obviously intidimated and cowering and frightened, he wanted to call his mother and the officer wouldn't let him. The boy was a minor and as such, was entitled to have a parent present before answering the "officer's" questions. As far as calling the officer "dude" unfortunately this is common language for most of the young people now and instead of making an issue of that, the officer should have explained what the boy had done to merit the yelling and insults. One can see that the boy was obviously intimidated by all the yelling by Mr. BigCop; the boy was trying to make the officer calm down. And the part about "somebody will kill you", stunned me.
I think it's time for this officer to go on stress leave.
Unfortunately, many fine and good officers suffer for the actions of a few not-so-good officers. |

No, this is not the way policemen are supposed to act. Nor is it the way teenagers are supposed to act. Teens today show no respect for authority, including their parents. When cops "go off" on teens, the police get all the blame. Dude and man are not words of respect to a police officer. Do not always be ready to blame the "cops". |

I'm having a problem figuring out your question. Is it how the police are 'supposed' to act? I'm pretty sure it's not mentioned as a requisite at the academy, no. Is it 'child abuse'? No, it's possibly endangering a minor, or brutality etc. but it doesn't qualify as child abuse. This cop embarrassed himself and you can bet he's going to pay for it. The department is not interested in law suits or in looking bad. The officer clearly has some serious issues and the department will be forced to deal with them. Now can we discuss your appalling spelling? |

My response to this in another forum:
The kid was being a little idiot. If my mom was talking to me like that I started to get smart, my a** would have been stomped. 40 years ago an officer would do the same thing and the parents would have been happy about it....and you probably would have gotten a second round by your parents just for wasting the cop's time.
This is the problem with society. Everything is me, me, me. No one can tell you what you can do, don't let anyone touch you. Absolutely no respect for authority. When I am talking, you shut up. You don't like that, go to any other country and it is exactly same, go back in time 30 years and it is the same, this is nothing new. It's just basic common sense, yes sir, no sir to a police officer will get out of an encounter a lot faster then being an idiot.
On the other side, the cop seemed a little too mad and probably shouldn't have grabbed the kid. Nothing is better then making someone feel 2 inches tall, but still being completely professional about it. Things like this only add fuel to the anti-police fire. |

I do not defend those actions. However, if you would like, you can take my job. Its lots of fun. When you spend all day everyday protecting the public, it's great to come home and see the hatred for us. |

Most of them have a god complex. They love to abuse their petty authority. |

Do you think this happens only when a camera is around? It is ignorant to say its just the cops that make it on youtube. I know there is alot of good people in law enforcement. but this is not the first time I have seen this come out of Baltimore. |

Just shows you that you shouldn't put a Pollock in a cop's uniform that has short pants.

What do you think about this one?

The kind of honorable, brave action on behalf of unappreciative citizens that he never would have dared do in front of a parent.
Gotta love that waistline in a belt and shorts too!
And still they insist that corruption and abuse take place only among the lowest 1-2% of the force! |
