jh you have clearly misinterpreted the constitution. The constitution was made for people to have civil liberty's, this is what seperates us from tyranny and fascism.

We allow the government, through regulatory agencies and law enforcement, to prohibit or limit the use of certain items to individuals. This is not unconstitutional, in fact, it is why the constitution was established. Sometimes freedom means the collective "we" must protect individuals from themselves, or at a minimum from disturbing, intruding on, or harming the rest of us. Individual rights can never supersede societal rights.... as in my right not to have you be all drugged out and a burden or threat to society.

clearly, you misread the Constitution. It is not tyranny or fascism (which did not exist as an idea at the time of the writing of the Constitution) to have limits to individual liberty. Individual liberty ends when it encroaches on that of another.
As far as alcohol goes, you are correct, it is legal for those over the age of 21 to consume, possess, transport, and to some degree manufactor. . Yet, again it may surprise you to learn that there are limits on that. You may not be under the influence when you operate a motor vehicle. You may not exhibit public inebriation. Those curtail personal liberty, yet are not tyrannical in any fashion, They serve to protect the populace from those that transgress the laws.
I am disturbed that you have had such poor educators or have such a badly misunderstood perspective of what "liberty" entails. Perhaps a refresher course may do you some good; seek that at your earliest opportunity. |
