Find answers to your legal question.

Isn't the slogan "People kill, not guns", just a publicity ploy to make guns seem less reprehensible so more--

can be sold? Shouldn't those who have fallen for the slogan try the more honest slogan "People WITH guns KILL!

I have guns and i don't kill people its the person who's holding the gun that kills can kill someone, A gun by itself is harmless
but that's what i think.

The answer to this question depends on who you are posing the question to:
Lets pose the question in a scenario: You're walking down a deserted street
with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man
with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams
obscenities, raises the knife, and charges. You are carrying a Colt 44
Pistol and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches
you and your family. What do you do?

Democrat Answer:

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man
look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire
him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the
kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of
his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the Colt have
appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and
what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it
possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill
me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and
hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call
9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have paint
and weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage
such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some
friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.

People also kill without guns. You do not need a gun to kill someone. If guns were gone tomorrow then killings would go on just with some other weapon (or with illegally acquired guns).

Not really, because if someone if committed to killing someone else, if they have no gun, they will use a knife, a club, or run them down with a car. It still goes back to the individual, not the weapon. From your standpoint, it seems you are leaning more to the slogan "People with guns kill". This is definitely not true. By putting the blame on the gun, you are removing the blame from the individual.

Criminals with guns kill would be more accurate. Hey, let's outlaw criminals. Wait, haven't we already done that? I better keep my guns to defend myself.

Also people with hatchets, lighter fluid, vehicles (unless you are Black), machetes, knives, arsenic, steel toed boots, a rock, brick, baseball bat, chainsaw and a rope kills.

We have 14 guns in our gun safe and not one of them has ever jumped out and smacked me around and put a bullet in me. They never loaded themselves, never pointed themselves at me and they have never pointed at anything that they weren't willing to destroy... So, what is your argument?

Oh, anti-gun... Then let's get rid of vehicles because they kill four times more people than guns ever have. I would also like to outlaw cigarettes because they beat guns almost two to one.... Then you got alcohol... yea, that's a good one too. So, you want to disarm the citizens and leave them further at the mercy to MS 13 and 18th street who bring their guns accross the border? Makes total sense to me.....

Out of 14 years in law enforcement.... I mean 15 years now, I have never recovered a LEGAL gun off of a criminal, so your laws mean absolutely nothing and will do nothing to curb anything but create more easy targets.... Look at a map and look at crime statistics in the liberal infested areas to see my point.
Wow!

Guns have become the scapegoat in this very litigous society we live in. Someone always has to be a victim (the lady spilling McDonalds coffee so she sued McDonalds) and lawyers just want money.
Like the man who walked into the grocery store in Ca armed with a samurai sword. He killed several before he was shot and killed by police officers. Did the sword kill them or did he kill them?
All of this came to a head when Brady was shot during the Reagan assassintation attempt. If it hadn't been someone with some power, the laws would have remained as they were. Checks were in place and only law abiding people could BUY guns.
Now, law abiding people can not buy guns as freely, but criminals can still STEAL guns just as easy as they ever could. It was all political and all rediculous.
The next time someone breaks into your house in the middle of the night, would you rather have a pistol or a butter knife?

Wayne G
no good, because not all people with guns kill people. according to FBI stats, less than 1/10th of one percent of of legal gun owners go out and kill people with those guns.
So why don't we just make the slogan read "lawbreakers kill people, regardless of their weapon of choice."
Why focus on guns? Why not grind the auto industry to a halt because 50,000 people are killed annually by automobiles, half of them by drunk drivers. so let's blame the alcohol industry as well. more people are killed by DWI in any given year than in the last 100 years by legal gun owners.

If you want to take away our rights to own guns, just say it. don't ***** foot around with the phraseology. just say you want to take away our rights. I have more respect for people when I know they are stating their positions honestly

I don' think it has anything to do with the idea to increase sales, but more to the fact that when a shooting occurs some people use that as an excuse to argue for stricter gun control laws, rather than blaming the person. Where as if a stabbing goes on, you'll never hear people saying we should ban knives, instead we focus on the individual who committed the crime.

No, it's not. People are solely responsible for their own actions, regardless of what they try to say.

People kill people, not guns.
I exercise my right to own one and use one....

Isn't asking this question over and over just a farce to get your hairbrained message out?

Ok, you win. Guns are evil. Guns have personalities of their own. In the wee hours, they seek out the weaker-minded of humanity and carefully manipulate them until they carry out the gun's terrible will. It doesn't stop there. The gun's poison is everywhere, and strong poison it is. Toasters, hair dryers, and even refrigerators have been known to support the gun's demonic plan to mastermind all crime in the world.

Yes, sadly, the message has reached far and wide. Before long, all inanimate objects will unite, with the sole intention of seeing to our demise. You should kill yourself immediately to prevent this from affecting you.

Moron.

I'm a defense attorney and consider myself a fairly extreme liberal on some issue. Not guns. I have four.

Let me ask you this, from your tone, I bet you don't trust cops to protect you in every situation? Is it possible that you don't trust the government with your freedom?

I'm willing to bet that the answer to both those questions is no. Like you, I don't trust the government, I know that police can not arrive in time and I don't trust people generally. The problem with so many liberals is that the have opinions that conflict. If you really think that the government and cops can't be trusted with anything and are capable of completely screwing you over, how can you turn around and voluntarily disarm yourself in the face of that?

A gun is an lifeless object, ergo: a gun by itself isn't dangerous.
