It's a sad fact that people come onto YA and lob about half baked slow witted generalizations. The majority of people believe the police are doing an excellent job within the constraints imposed upon them by finance.

The police seldom arrest "innocent" people yet everyone in here that has been taken in claims to be innocent- nothing new. The police have their hands tied by silly laws that keep them from doing their jobs at times. Courts will often let criminals go for the stupidest of reasons. etc etc etc.
I do agree that they are excessive ticket givers but that is because we chose to fund law enforcement through fines rather than totally through the budget and besides they cant do much else because of the previously mentioned stupid laws. Neighborhood brats doing donuts in peoples drive way- there is no ticket for that and a judge will throw it out if the cop didnt personally witness it so why would they go and waste time writing it up. To scare the kids? These people ALL KNOW that the cops are powerless.

I don't care how many people say I am useless, because one woman thanked me for stopping her husband on a domestic violence call. To that woman I was not usless.

The people on here that slate the police are generally brain dead, i.e Stand2 and Iain for example.

Neither can give specific examples of why the service is so bad. All they do is rant and come out with sweeping generalisations based on what exactly???

It's not the police that are useless, they do a fantastic job. It is only the fools in parliment who are out of touch with the real world. A police officer can only do his/her job to the best of thier abilities when they are given the powers to so. I have nothing but respect for police officers and know that they are fighting not just crime but stupid red tape and stacks of paperwork which keeps a lot of officers off the street. Let's not knock the police but lets help them, we are thier eyes and ears against crime. The only thing I do not agree with is all those BLOODY speed trap cameras, come on guys give us a rest and put the money into more officers on the beat. Those cameras cost thousands, enough to put one officer on the beat for a year.

and sadly most people have lost faith in us... and im gutted

we, most of us, joined as we couldnt stand by and let the world go to sh*t , we decided top step up and help.

BUT in my area in watford hertfordshire
we have an adult popluation of over 60,000, and each shift we pu tout at most 14 officers....

as we cant afford more as the government wont give us any money.

so we have to try and deal with several hundred calls each shift.... you guys do the math, ans figure out out we try and deal with all this.

the resources should be there, but hey aren't.
We cant deal with crime properly in this way, and you know what...

we soddin hate it. We dont enjoy the fact the public have lost confidence in us.. but we try the damned best we can as individuals (barring the odd bad apple)

I agree with you 100 % Gathering from the critics I find many are not satisfied with the Police because when you need them they are never around, park a car in the no parking area and you are sure to get a ticket within 10 minutes. Why don't they let the traffic wardens write out traffic tickets ?

Get them to imagine what their House would be like without the Old Bill !!
Their windows would be made of Corrigated Iron and they would be payin protection money to whatever numb-nut was runnin their Area that month with his gang of Crack head killers .
The thing is....... Cos weve now got a closet Commie Government, we dont see the Police cos theyre all in plain clothes spying on us, or watching us through one of the millions of F*ckin Cameras theyve put in !!

i won't tell you i didn't deserve the tkts i got. but maybe i could have used that service when my house was robed,when i had a ATV stolen.when i was robbed and beaten at 7-11,but they were to busy making money writing speeding tkts. ATV stolen to busy to even come out. house robbed told me i need better locks no one arrest nothing found. for 7-11 paramedics were very helpful police took a description and got some coffee and left never heard anything from them. i am sure they write lots of tkts as far as solving crimes they never solved any of mine

Look at the evidence.
When I was a child there was always a bobby on the beat - that is a good deterrent. Now you never see them unless they are sitting waiting for you at the side of the road with a hairdrier.
They are hipocrites - the senior policeman caught speeding.
They are never available to come & help when they are needed.
They have so much paperwork & have to cover themselves so much they have no time for policing.
