I bet all those people suggesting you should contest it or ignore it are the same people who complain that the police spend too much time sorting out paperwork rather than catching proper criminals.
You were caught speeding, so just take your punishment like a man, not a wimp, and let the police get on with their job. |

Uh, if you can't remember who was driving that's a problem in itself. Where you drunk or on drugs? I'm sure the ticket states who was driving. And I'm just asking, but, if you're husband and wife, does it really matter who pays? I don't know about your family... but in mine we share expenses. This question has so many holes it might as well be Swiss cheese. |

First thing to do about a speeding ticket is not to panic - you may not have to pay this fine. Reason, because quite often the people responsible for taking your snap photo as you speed along do not present you with the evidence. So, if you go to court with your case and they cannot produce a photograph then you do not pay the fine - any magistrate will dismiss the case and may even award you costs. To find out more about this you'll have to surf the web - ask questions such as 'speeding fines uk' and see what you come up with. There is one ex-copper I found a few years ago who said not to pay a fine but take it to court. A lot of celebs get off speeding fines due to technicalities such as the one I have already mentioned. However, they may have closed the loop hole by now or be about to. Good luck and happy speeding motoring. Oh! In case you did not hear already, there is a new type of speed cam which clocks you into a zone and then clocks you out again. If you reach cam 2 quicker than the speed, say 40mph, it flashes. Beware of this. I guess soon we'll have to take our high speed cars on the B roads if we want to do the ton-plus. |

Be careful here... it is a seperate offence to not tell the Chief Constable who was the driver. This could get messy as you may have a case where if you cant remember and the police can't prove. I would contact a solicitor, the vast majority should do a free initial consultation. |

It was probably you I reckon. She was probably too busy doing the ironing/washing/shopping/gabbing/doing her hair - no time to be driving. |

Well if your married dont ya share the expenses thats what i do with my hubby i mean the police will probably have to know who it was driving by the pic or something! Will ya be getting points aswell or just the fine?? |

Pay up and take the points. Otherwise it could get on long and drawn out and you will end up paying a lot more thanjust the fine. |

Unfortunatly for you the fine will have to be paid and point will go on someones licence. If you are unable to remember then you can ask for the photo to be sent but if you do not pay within 28 days the fine will go up by 50% and eventaully you will be summond to court where you could be given a fine upto £1000 or even be banned from driving. So my advice is nominate one of you to take the fall for the point and pay the fine. |

I would deeply advise you to not do as Jacqui suggested. (Not to pay, just forget about the ticket) If Whoever's name is on the citation does not procede to pay the fine, a FTA (Failure To Appear) will be proclaimed and that person will be issued an arrest warrant over a certian amout of time. (also, the fine for the infraction will increase + Jail time) ------- Go to court and take care of it while it is almost no big deal. Thats the best advise that I can offer you. |

Photo should show who is driving. If not, go to court and fight it. |

does it really matter who was driving? arent you a partnership that share everything? if its that much of a bif deal to you pay half each! |

S ame thing happened to us ,we refused to pay ,and the picture of the car did not identify which of us was driving .so we got away with it ,the police must prove who was driving |

i cant believe neither one of you remember being pulled over.just dont pay it then when the constable shows up,the one they take to jail is the guilty one. |

Just keep on contesting it they'l give up in the end ! |

pay for it and then don't buy her anything for xmas. |

It's gonna be hard to wiggle outa this one... the cops don't care, especially if both people are registered to drive the car. Pay up or go to traffic court to fight the charge---your ball, swing. |

Ask them to send you the photograph. |

why don't you guys split the cost? i mean you are married you split everything else.
i see lots of problems if you cannot share your money. lots and lots and lots..ask my parents...lots. |

I think i saw your wife driving |

the person who pays is the owner of the vechicle unless the owner can prove that he /she was not driving at the time of the offence eg in hospital or police custody. the owner then does not have to say or do anything else. the police must then prove who was driving. the alleged driver can refuse to answer any police
questions on the grounds that he/she will incriminates themselves. |

It was the wife. I saw her!! |
|

taterchips755

but only one of you were driving at that time and that is what the court will look at not the tittle of ownership. |
|

Not remembering is not a point of law.
What is a point however, is who owns the car.
The owner pays, unless provable that he/she was'nt driving. |

Is there not a new rule about this,if l remember right just don't send it back it's down to them to prove it!
