Would you jump of a bridge if everyone else was doing it?
When you say you were staying with traffic, my guess is that you were in the left lane, going 81. If you were in the right, you would be going 75 or less.
Welcome to the world of an adult. You screwed up, pay for it like a man. If you really want to get out of this, go see a lawyer. |

Going with the flow is not a successful defense in court.
81 is pretty fast, your best bet may be to make an appointment with the prosecutor and try for a lesser penalty. Your state may have traffic school, defensive driving, or other deferred judgment programs. The prosecutor may also agree to amend it to a non-moving violation that does not effect your insurance. |

You will want to take traffic school in order to waive the ticket fee, if you do this it will no longer be on your record. Unfortunatley, your insurance will most likely still increase. Slow down! |

good luck with the excuse, everyone else was going the same speed. It will not work with the judge, and the judge will most likely see all of you in the same court. I suggest "No contest and ask for defensive driving and it will come off your record once you complete the course and you will not have to worry about the insurance. |

Defensive driving course.....community service if your trying to get the ticket removed good luck thats a long shot! |

I don't know what state you live in, but most of them allow you to take a driving course & the ticket will stay off your record. You have to request it at court..good luck! |

No - they won't fall for the "everyone else was doing it too" thing....it's been used. You CAN go to court on the date on the ticket and try to fight it -- if the cop doesn't show up (they don't like to go to court), you'll win....but it's a chance you take!! Could cost you more money if you lose though. |

Pay the ticket. This wouldn't be an issue if you weren't breaking the law. |

Wow, you found the answer everybody has been looking for in getting out of a speeding ticket. Use the defense of "everybody else was speeding". Brilliant !! How you get out of the ticket is to pay it, and not speed in the future. Please use this experience to learn a lesson. |

A one time ticket doesn't normally effect your insurance.
However, using your rationale...if the other speeders insurance goes up...so should yours!
Remember the old saying "If someone else jumped off the bridge..."
Just because other drivers are speeding doesn't mean you should drive irresponsibly also! |

So now it's the cops fault? Bad impressions? Because you were speeding makes the big bad police officer a meany?
First off - grow up! If you want the privledges of an adult, act like one! Crying about your friends father having connections and getting off for this and that is meaningless. You turned a very good question with some fine information given to you into a childish whiny rant.
"Keeping up with traffic" means you were "keeping up with the other he pulled over - thus you were speeding and is not a defense merely an empty excuse - sorry.
15 over means you were cooking. Depending on your jurisdiction you may make a guilty plea and attend traffic school in order to rescind and points due to the summons.
Note: If you go for the old - Cop may not show up routine - we are allowed to miss a few appearences - if the officer was enforcing speeds - part of his duty schedule is to appear at court at least four hours a week with some departments. When we are issued RADAR/LIDAR court dates accompany.
By the way - you may want to review your grammar before posting. |

traffic school is the best thing to do, |

Well there probably is nothing that you could do becase the would usally let you have a warning if you were only speeding 5 mph over the speed limit |

There are a couple of options depending on your state, however the likelihood of "getting out of it" or beating the ticket are slim to none.
Two options that come to mind that may be available are:
1. Deferred disposition where the ticket goes away if you do not get pulled over in a specified time (6 months and 1 year are common).
2. Traffic school. Some states will allow a person to attend traffic school to remove points from their license or to remove a ticket all together.
Call the DA to explore your options. |

The ticket will still be on your record even if you take a course of some sort or do community service. The only real way to trying to go to court and hoping you win your case. |

No matter if every one else was also speeding or not, its still speeding. every one was doing it. But with their limited resource they are not able to pull every body over. You just happen to be one out of them all that they chose to stop. There is no way to get out of it unless you can prove that you just were not doing it. Almost impossible. Although... I have heard of a trick that you can try.
When you pay the fine, send it by mail, and write the check for $2 or $3 over the required amount. Then they will have to send you a refund check for the amount that you over paid. when it comes, do not cash it, ever. supposedly, the case does not go on your record until you cash that check. I do nit know for sure that this works , but I have heard that it does. And I know someone who has tried it, but has not yet received the check back. |

the state trooper may offer to drop it down to something else if you have a clean license. I would speak to him prior to your court appearance and whatever you do, be polite and respectful. |

Take traffic school and your insurance won't go up. When the papers are turned in to your insurance company, all it tells them is that you took traffic school. It doesn't say why you took it. In fact, mine actually went down. |

well, to get that off your record go to defensive driving immediately or it will be on there for "x" number of years, but for right now play it cool when you drive |

Go to traffic court on the date they tell you to show up.Sometimes the cops doesn't show up and the ticket is thrown out.Call the number on the ticket to find out when and where to appear. |

I got a ticket for going 50 in a 35. I didn't feel like dealing with the stress and court for the ticket so I ended up hiring a lawyer to deal with it. In the end he got it from going 15 over to a "parking on a highway" ticket (go figure? lol) and I just had to pay the $100 "parking on a highway" fine. In the end it cost me about $300 between the lawyer and the ticket but it was worth it cause I never had to go to court or do anything. Maybe its just me but I didn't mind paying a little extra to not do anything and still get out of the ticket. You could do it yourself but if you would rather have someone else do it for you I suggest hiring a lawyer to do it for you. There are actually lawyers that specifically deal with speeding tickets, so look for one of them in the yellow pages and they should be able to handle it no problem. Good luck |

Traffic ticket lawyer. You spend the same amount of money (if you were to pay the ticket) and it stays off your record. |

You should be worried about the danger you were causing going that fast in a 65 zone. Speeding is a serious moving violation and I doubt you'll get out of it. Good for your insurance company for upping your $ |

Ur first ticket they are usually pretty lenient I would say just that, u were moving with the flow of traffic, if it aint thrown out Im certain they will at least reduce it. |

Hire an attorney to fix the ticket. You pay the attorney instead of the insurance company and he/she keep the points off your license! Do it right away if you go past the court date it costs more! |

Depends where you live man. Can you specify?
Where I'm from you can challenge the ticket and roll the dice, hoping the cop won't show. If you are in a big city, this should work. If not, maybe ask if the officers speed gun was calibrated, at a requested hearing. Most speed guns have calibration tickets on them and are to be serviced every now and again. If said ticket isnt on there, you will probably get off.
Last ditch effort: call a friend who's a cop and have him ring the officers station or the town clerk. quid quo pro tho, my man. |
