Just had a TV delivered. Will it get stolen?

Even if you cant afford an alarm, you can afform a dummy burglar alarm case. you should be able to get one quite easily.

Most burglaries are 'crimes of opportunity' - they see an open window, or suchlike and take the opportunity. Burglars like easy targets, and any small thing you can do to make your house look like less of a target is all to the good.
If your place looks like too much of a problem, they will simply bypass your place looking for an easier target.

One other suggestion...... don't leave the box for the plasma TV in plain sight (either indoors near a window, or out with the rubbish) otherwise you're just advertising that you have something worth stealing

Good reason for concern. You probably should have had a burglar alarm fitted rather than the state of art TV! But we are all genius's in hind-sight! Ask a friend to stay, do you rent - speak to the landlord, you need to feel safe in your home!

Most thefts are opportunists - make sure you always close all you doors and windows and it will usually be too hard to get in, so they won't bother - also you can buy a fake alarm box so it looks like you have an alarm but don't - that would put off most of the robbing scum bags!

Unless you suspect your neighbours, they have properly moved on now. chances are slim but make sure it insured just in case.

The chance is always there, sorry, make sure you are at least well insured to cover any thefts. Try to at least get a cheaper alarm system, it may be enough to put off any potential burgler!!

Go to Walmart,and buy a set of those incredibly loud,and annoying window alarms. They are like $5.00 for 4 of them when your door gets opened it will go off,and scare the hell out of anyone breaking in. They sound like a burglar alarm,and they will not stick around after they go off,but the down side is it will go off whenever you open your door,but it's better then getting ripped off again.

There should be a help group that come and fit locks on windows for you free after a burglary. Also install a mortis lock on your doors, if you haven't already got one. They can't get in with them.

don't leave the box outside your house when you dispose of it, or if you do then conceal it in a bin liner. Otherwise you are advertising to the world that you have a new TV

burglars don't normally go back to the same place twice but as you've just told everyone then all the burglars that were out at Christmas will be back.

I doubt if they would be watching your house but if you are worried, get the contents insured.

Check out your home security ensure you have good locks on all windows and doors.

Put up a notice on the outside of your front door.

BEWARE OF THE DOG!
With a photograph of a Rottweiler or German Shepperd.

Install a security lamp front and rear of your property. This will detect movement and heat and will switch on if a person moved into it's zone. Helps.

Here in UK the most likely time for thefts in the home is during the school holidays; that's right now by the way. Reason. If you leave a window only slightly open, a small boy can be pushed through by an older boy or an adult.

Burglary is down in UK at present, due to the lack of summer, when most people would normally leave windows open and forget to shut same when they go out.

Keep all doors and windows securely locked when you go out and well locked and guarded while you are are at home. Be suspicious of everyone. Don't let strangers into your home, ever.
