Having been involved in Crime and,punishment for thirty years I feel that I can comment on your friends dilemma.
Firstly ignore those who only want to insult you or your friend and come up with personal attacks.
Secondly Because your friend committed common Assault it does not automatically mean she will go to prison.
Judging by what you say your friend does have problems with anger and she needs to address this and,when she appears in front of Magistrates she needs to convince them that she is actively seeking help,at the time of her arrest she was obviously in a state which is not normal for her,hence her attack on the police who arrested her.
It seems highly likely she will be given a fine,community service and possibly probation however,a Custodial Sentence is a possibility but,doubtful,she needs to show remorse and apologise through her solicitor.

I don't want to give you grief, just the opposite. I too love somebody who keeps breaking the law.
It will honestly be better for if she experiences the consequences of her actions. It will give her a better chance to improve her life. This may save her life in the long run.
You don't have any power here; she is the one that keeps getting herself in trouble. You need to take care of yourself.

If you as a "friend" can't help her, or you are unable to dissuade her from a path that is destructive not only to her, but to society as a whole, a short, sharp kick in the a**e, just might do the trick.

If you are a true friend, she will need your support and guidance after serving her time.

Courts in the UK are much more leanient on females than males. I'm almost certain that your friend will escape jail on this occasion. But they do scare you at court into believing jail is more of a possibility than it acctually is. Common assult is the lowest from of assult. My best advice is to plead guilty and to put across to the court that you are sorry (weather u r or not it doesn't matter) If you we drunk at the time make sure you mention that it was the alcohols effect on you that made you do it.

Ooooh, I wish I could say something to really help, but I definitely am no expert, sorry.
You deserve a medal to 'know and like a criminal', not 'grief'. If you're not a criminal yourself, you're probably in her life to establish some sort of balance. A big responsibility for you and, yes, it is scary at times, no doubt.
Be strong, there will be rewards, I'm sure.
Pray, even if yo don't usually believe. God has a tendency to care even when we don't so he never slaps you in the face when you turn to him in times of trouble.

if your friend goes to court and says she is sorry for her actions,most madgastates are very unlikely to send her to prison. if your friend is in employment /has kids etc make sure the court is aware of it all as this all will help. prison is only used as a last option.

i would like to know the reason why your friend saw it fit to committ a common assualt on a stranger.?
did this stranger threaten her in anyway.?
if your friend attacked this stranger for no other reason, but to cause harm to this other person, then thing's do look grave indeed.
you also mention that your friend has previous for supply and possession of class b drugs, and is on police bail for allegedly attacking a police person.
been that your friend as form for drugs, but is now adding assualt to her record, thing's for your friend do not look promising,
she may get between six months- to - one year, but it depend's rather on the judges, you might get a lenient judge or a judge who may well send your friend down for a time.

Sorry for you,mate,but i hope she goes to jail.One assault was bad enough,but 2 shows she's a real thug & deserves to be locked up.

the magistrates can give 18 months max. but if they think its too serious for them to preside over they will give it to crown for bigger sentence. unlucky she will have to hope the maj likes her!

Hi - have given you a long answer on your previous posting - based on what my patients tell me! Six months in reality means 12 weeks less any for a home detention curfew. Even if my answer doesn't help 12 weeks will fly and you will be able to have regular contact. It sounds like she has a good friend in you so don't let it get you down - just carry on supporting her and being there for her.

Why anyone should give you grief for knowing and liking another human being I don't know. I hope that she has realised the error of her ways and is prepared to change - if there is a next time it would be one too many and could have serious reprecussions.

Sounds like your friend has an anger management problem, which is not your problem. She made her bed, now she has to sleep in it. I'm sorry you have chosen this kind of a person to hang around with because now you can see what your entire relationship is going to be like... visiting her in jail. Yeah, she'll probably go there, especially for assaulting an officer, that's usually a felony here in USA.

Your friend will go to jail for a short period, that much is inevitible. You say that she was on police bail when she assaulted a stranger for no reason.

I think that she deserves all she gets, I hope she gets hurt in jail and is as scared as the stranger she assaulted was when she attacked that person.

In my eyes you and your friend should be sent to an island where scum like you can inbreed as much as you like without giving innocent people grief
