I'm a renter of a small yet expensive apartment, that isn't worth the expense. I have a cat in my apartment, mainly because I have a rodent problem that the land lord claims he fixed. Last winter (4 months ago) I had no heat for a week, and on some cold days it doesn't work. My apartment has been broken into twice, and the land lord won't do anything about extra security. My land lord each week will ask me to get into my apartment to show it for a full day, even though I'm still technically there for 2 more months. I told him that I work nights and would like to get some sleep during the day, but he complains saying that he needs to show it to get it rented. Last week I was kicked out of my apartment for 3 days for an electrician (still have problems with the electricity though). HELP ME GET OUT OF THIS PLACE! I FEEL HARASSED! Is there a law for land lords to follow with harassing their tenants? Or is there a loop hole where I can break lease and still get all of my security deposit back?

I assume you are looking for the answer in all 50 states, all of the Canadian provinces, Australia, the UK and the rest of the Englsih speaking world.

Here are some sites that have info you need to look up your local regulation in your state and see what they are but i believe it would be where he has to fix the problems whitin a certain amount of time or he can get into trupble if you file a complaint. You might even go as far to see if there is a lawyer who deals with that sort of thing in your town and see if you could have a free consultation with them. |

you may be able to break the lease. Your landlord needs to give you at least 24 hours notice before asking to come into your house. Change the locks and ignore him until you move out. |

Check the landlord-tenant laws of your state. You can contact legal aid for some guidance. Your landlord (usually) does not have the right to enter your apartment without a minimum of a 48 hour notice, and the frequency with which he is entering is a problem. Also, having you evacuate for repairs is also a problem, as well as not addressing your issues in a timely manner. Unfortunately, you'll probably need an attorney, but if you prevail against your landlord, you can recoup the attorney's fees. Best of luck to you. |

Personally I don't. I know there are good cops and bad cops out there, but the bad cops have really made the rest of them look bad as far as I am concerned.
