Looking to become a town cop, go to school for criminal justice, and eventually get into the FBI.?

All through out high school I planned on going to school for cosmetology even though I really wanted to be a cop, go to school for criminal justice, and eventually get into the FBI. It turns out I had way better grades than I thought. So I graduated early and am looking into schools for criminal justice. Someone suggested ITT Tech.

Either way, what ever school I go to...

What do I need to get into the FBI? A bachelors degree in criminal justice? Then what?

As for becoming a town cop (I live in a really reaaally small town), do you think they will hire someone right out of high school who has no experience with the law enforcement?

I don't think they will, so what should I do in order to get a better chance at becoming a cop?

To become an FBI Special Agentyou must be a U.S. citizen or a citizen of the Northern Mariana Islands. You must be at least 23 years of age, but younger than 37 upon your appointment as a Special Agent. You must possess a four-year degree from a college or university accredited by one of the regional or national institutional associations recognized by the United States Secretary of Education. You must have at least three years of professional work experience. You must also possess a valid driver's license and be completely available for assignment anywhere in the FBI's jurisdiction.

All applicants for the Special Agent position must first qualify under one of five Special Agent Entry Programs. These programs include:

Accounting
Computer Science/Information Technology
Language
Law
Diversified

After qualifying for one of the five Entry Programs, applicants will be prioritized in the hiring process based upon certain Critical Skills for which the FBI is recruiting. The FBI is currently recruiting for Special Agent candidates with one or more of the following Critical Skills:

Engineering Expertise
Foreign Language(s) Proficiency
Intelligence Experience
Law Experience
Law Enforcement/Investigative Experience
Military Experience

Kevin covered it very well. I also recommend looking into employment in other towns. Although I would go to your local police department and ask if they need some help. They might need you for a part-time gig in the beginning, but it's a start. I still recommend education over good will or luck.

Education wise - I recommend you obtain at least a bachelor degree to stay current with any competition you may have. Believe me, you may live in a small town, but there are people who are highly educated in town or in vicinity looking for great careers also. My 2 cents.

Oh... about ITT Tech - the school's accreditation is often questioned. Thus, I recommend you look for schools that are regionally accredited - IMPORTANT (see the source below).
