Ok. I made a mistake of stealing while I worked at Wal-Mart. Went to jail, blablabla. Anyway, they checked the cameras and found that I stole other stuff in the past. In the end, I ended up with a felony & a misdemeanor conviction.
I have a lawyer hired and everyone who recommended me to him told me he's really good. I paid $2,000 for him. Anyway, a day after I hired him, the police came to my house looking for me because of a warrant (from when Wal-Mart found out that I had stole other things). I was at school then, but when I came home, my mom told me about it and we went to my lawyer. He said the next morning me and him will go up there and I'll turn myself in, but I'll be released on a PR bond. So all of that has happened and a month has passed. God me a new job, still going to college, etc.
My question is, I haven't heard anything from my lawyer, because he told us he'll get all the information he needs and contact us when he needs to. But also, I haven't heard anything from the police department either about when I need to go to course or see a judge or anything. My lawyer said he will try to get the felony conviction off and see if I can do some community service or probation or somethin. What are the chances that I can get the felony off and only have the misdemeanor while I only have to do community service, probation, and pay whatever fines? Also, I'm currently applying for other jobs because I hate where I'm at. Are the convictions I have currently affecting me from getting jobs? Because I have not heard from a few I applied at. Thanks!

if You havent been convicted ..those arent on your record YET. ask Your attorney about a plea deal involving an *SIS* probation..*suspended imposition of sentence* if he can get You an SIS ...these charges will NOT be convictions forever..after you complete your probationary period...then the same amount of time passes ...*say 2 years probation..then 2 more years pass without any issues with law enforcement* these charges with be off your record..dont worry about not hearing from the police.... your lawyer will call you when he has something to tell you... just chill and talk to your lawyer about the SIS INCASE he cant get you off... otay.. |

yes your past will haunt you especially with trying to get a good job
i would call my lawyer and keep on him and find out whats going on if your no stified with what he says you could also call the police department and ask them if they know there shouldn't be any harm in it.

also be up front with anyone you are appling for and let them know upfront and tell them you regret what you did and you are trying to make a better life for yourself and you want a chance and reassure them you are a changed person.but make sure when you fill out the application ask for the head manager and talk to them and like i said come clean and go from there. it will be hard at first but better in the future. |

well first not smart, also jobs low at the moment, and yes that stays on your record and does affect if you plan on finding a job in retail or where you have access to valuables, might try in service jobs like restaurant fast food cleaning agencies, anyway good luck...
