If I stopped you and you gave me a valid Kansas license, I would have no idea you also had a suspended California license...

...until my dispatcher checked on their own or at my request, as is normally the practice where I work - for that very reason.

And that assumes that Kansas has not suspended your license under a reciprocal agreement with California.

So what would happen?

If your suspended California license was discovered, you could be (probably would be) issued a citation for driving on a suspended license. It does not matter if you have a valid license in some other state, if California suspended your license your privilege to drive in California is withdrawn regardless of where you are from or where you have a valid license.

They will most likely be able to see the California suspension, but since you apparently live in Kansas, and have a valid Kansas license, it doesn't matter. You will be restricted in California until you pay the fine, but you will be able to drive anywhere else in the country without incident.

I'm in the same boat. If your suspension is an administrative one (just for not paying a ticket not for a traffic offense), then you are OK using your Kansas license, but your insurance is affected.

Don't drive in California Until you get the Suspension removed by paying the fine. You can probabily drive outside of California using to Kansas License, until it expires!

some state have a reciprocal agreement between them which helps in enforcement of fine and court costs which replenishes the states General funds as well as keeping the motto the long arm of the law alive! if kansas and California are buddies, buy a bike because if you get caught you may be spending time with a girl named crusher.and incure a heck of a lot more expenses on top of your vacation with crusher.

If your license is run it will show the suspension under your name. You will also receive another summons for operating while suspended or revoked.

I know things are difficult for everybody but it'd be my strongest suggestion you ride with a friend or take public transportation.

Imagine what would happen after another summons...the bills will get higher!

I wonder how you got your California license while keeping your Kansas license!

Usually the application for a license asks if you have any other license (including licenses in other states or countries). If you answer "yes" (as you should have) they take your other license from you before you get the new one.

If you answer "no" when you actually do have a license from somewhere else ... you have knowingly submitted a false document for filing. This would eventually be caught and your California license would be invalidated.

Let's say you slipped through somehow, took the California written test, got a permit, scheduled and passed a road test, got a California license. Your Kansas license was never discovered during this whole process. If you get pulled over on the Kansas license the whole scheme might come undone!

Yes, if you're suspended in one state you're suspended in all of them.
