about a year ago, my bestfriend stole my debit card on a number of occasions. i didnt ever press charges on her because i thought she would pay me back. a few months later i moved and i have yet to see a dime. i never did put a fraud alert on all the transactions she made either. now that ive moved out of state i want to take her to court, but do i have to go back to that state and press charges on her? what should i do?

Some "Best Friend" I think it is a little late, you can't prove that you didn't give permission. Report it to the credit card company and they will tell you what you can do. |

you should ask her about it first and if she doesnt cough the cash up in a set time period......then sue her!!!!!!! |

You KNEW she had used your card and FAILED to make a timely report. Legally, you have LOST the right to file a compliant for fraud. You MAY be able to file a civil suit against her, but is may cost more than she took.
IF you had filed a fraud complaint when this happened, the bank would have returned your money and went after her themselves. |

Put charges on her. RIGHT AWAY. If you don't do it now, you probably won't even be able to get the money back whatesoever. This person doesn't sound like much of a best friend... |

you have to report the theft to your bank. they will make you sign an affidavit stating you did not make the withdrawls. they usually pay you back. because you waited so long to report it they may not accept your story. play dumb, because you moved you didn't realize etc. when you sign the affidavit you stating it was not you. they pay you, the have insurance for this . they get paid the insurance and the bank report to the cops, your off the hook you didn't rat your friend out. |
