I hope the DA doesn't reduce the charges one bit. Anyone who would do something as stupid as try to blind a pilot flying a plane or helicopter is probably doing a bunch of other stupid stuff as well. I'm sure you love your bf and all, but for the good of society he needs to be put on a timeout in the gray bar hotel for a few years. |

Anythings possible. It all depends on the DA, the boyfriend's criminal record, his age, etc... A pretty stupid thing to do to be sure. Hiring a good criminal attorney is essential. The possibility of getting it reduced to a misdemeanor is probably nil without one. |

What kind of laser? An industrial laser for cutting diamonds? Or one of those 5mw laser pens from Crap B Us? If it's the last one, forget pleading it down, just go with Not Guilty. You couldn't do any more obstruction to an aircraft with one of those than you could by trying to pĂss upward at the damned thing.
Seriously. How high was the aircraft? Was it PLAINLY visible from the ground? Was it daytime or nighttime? Where were you at? Near an airport or helicopter pad? In your backyard? In your backyard, it's going to be nearly impossible to get a conviction unless you stupidly give it to them by pleading down. Pointing a little 5mw pen in the air is no more obstuction than spitting in the grass is an attempt to flood the neighborhood. These are also rated as Class IIIA lasers, which are not considered dangerous unless used in conjunction with optical instruments which change the beam diameter or power density. |

it makes it worst if its a 500 dollar laser and they found it. it also is worse if they found drugs or drug paraphanelia when they were attained. if this is in regards to the recent cleveland mishap then im quite certain there will be severe punishment considered due to prior convictions, and interfering with a federal mass travel aircraft. it makes the news when its incredibly stupid and the person or persons involved are all looking at some type of time in prison. |
