My friend and I were accused of shoplifting a few years ago?

we did not take anything at all and didn't even go down the isle where we supposedly took something from. The cops met us outside as we were leaving and took us back inside. They searched our pockets and purses and bags from the things we bought then saw on the camera we did not take anything.
Anyway, we were separated when we were questioned and the cop asked for my name, birthdate and ss# for his report. We got in no trouble (obviously) and were then free to go. He didn't even call in the info to dispatch while I was there (he may have after I left, I'm not sure).
My question is, since he took that information and made a report will it ever show up I was stopped on the way out of the store on like a background check or if the police ever run my information?
I'm assuming it won't since we didn't do anything or get in trouble, but I'm just really paranoid. I've never even been pulled over and given a ticket or anything. I'm just worried since he took my info that it may be on file or something.

Nah, no need to worry.
It would only be on your record IF you had gone to court and/or was charged with the crime directly. But questioning and suspicion wont put anything on your record.
Its like when someones been raped and all men who fit the description are put into a line-up. If all those guys who were in the line-up had that put on there record before being found guilty then i can guarantee the state would feel some heat from the aftermath of wrongful labeling. |
