I DIDNT GET THE TICKET IT IS NOT NOT NOT MY TICKET. My friend got the ticket because HE WAS THE ONE DRIVING and he's going to deal with it properly so it wont be ignored. I just want to know if my parents will find out about this in some way. Does the insurance go up for this even though I wasn't the one driving? Meaning I wasnt the one driving.

Yes, your parents will find out when their insurance rates increase and they call up the company ask what the hell happened. |

the insurance will increase with moving violations. so your parents will be notified via insurance company about the increase. if you ignore the ticket and one of them gets pulled over at any time, then they could have an arrest warrant on them b/c if you don't pay the ticket you have to go to the court date written on the ticket. and they can put an arrest warrant out for your parents (whoever vehicle is registered to) for "failure to appear in court'. at least in Louisiana - those are the laws. |

The driver is cited for speeding - not the car.
Your insurance "shouldn't" go up because he was driving, because the citation is attached to his drivers license - not the car.
You should let your parents know just in case the insurance company tries to stick you.

No, the ticket follows the driver, not the car. However, you want to be sure that your insurance covers someone else driving your car; if she had been in an accident, your insurance would come into play, and if it didn't cover additional drivers, your parents would have a hefty bill. |

Your friend will get the ticket, but what insurance did he hand the cop when the cop asked? He had to give him some form of insurance. If it was the one from your car, your parents will find out. You've haven't given us all the details so we can't answer totally. If the guy had his own insurance card with him and gave it to the cop, your insurance won't be affected and your parents probably won't find out. |
