Why is he aiming it at your front door?
Is it not possible to build a barrier/fence to prevent your front door being filmed. Or a security light, activated by movement outside your door, which comes on and shines really brightly directly into his camera lens, preventing any recording taking place. I'd be very annoyed if I were you, and would get some legal advice before you do anything. |

Get a bright halogen light and aim it at his camera. |

I would suggest installing a 1 Kw floodlight, pointing directly at his camera / house.
*that* is YOUR right.
Apart from the fact that if you get a nice sharp beam, you ought to be able to damage the camera, having their house bathed in floodlight 24/7 might wear them down fairly quickly - certaijnly the camera will see NOTHING with a floodlight pointing at it.
Of course laser pointers left pointing at a camera for a LONG period of time can also damage the CMOS / CCD detector.
Floodlight probably quicker, cheaper and easier.

Get the Council and Social Services involved under the "nuisance neighbour" legislation. Even if they can't sort it it'll make your neighbour wish he'd never installed the camera. |

tell your neighbour,he has to have it facing down the way into his own property,my friend had the same problem, the police told the neighbour,he cannot aim it at your premises, its against the law, good luck. |

if it is in a fixed state then this is invasion of privacy, get in touch with your local council, or alternativly do the same or at least buy a fake one and aim it at his door see what he says |

Speak to a solicitor/lawyer. Maybe they can write him a formal letter asking him to remove it... fair enough to protect his property, but pointing at your door, thats creepy!!! |

Are you in an EU country? He could be infringing your human right (to privacy). Seek legal advice. |

I think you can sue him for infringing on your privacy. I am sure you can go to court and get a decease and desist order to shut the camera down. He might have to pay you for your release if you chose. |

Why did he do it? can it in anyway bee funcional as far as watching his land or is he just watching to see if his woman is sneaking out of your house at 2 am?
I'd try a small claims court. |

my partner has cctv as his hobby and i know it is an invasion of personal space he cannot by law have it pointing at your property unless his property is at least 50% covered by the camera and he must by law have a sign notifying any one that they are being filmed on camera i know it might look like it is pointing at you door but as i know due to different lenses inside the camera they might be looking at something else just keep complaining to the police they will have to do something as it is invading your privacy although unless you own your home there is nothing you can do as he could get permission from your landlord hope this helps |

ask them to kindly direct it away from your house and if they don't call the police! Thats an invasion of privacy right there. Don't stand for it!

tell the police it is their duty, this person could be a peado taking images of children entering or leaving your place,i know what i would do,for a small charge i could do it for you, just so there is no misunderstanding, that is i could contact cab. |

The police are correct in its not their duty. You are describing a CIVIL matter not a CRIMINAL one.
Talk to a Lawyer, not the Cops
However if you take the suggestions of most of the answerers here, you will make it a Matter for the cops. and YOU would be the Criminal.
Criminal trespass
Damage to property
Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm
Even arguing about it to your neighbor could be Disturbing the Public Peace
TALK

A
LAWYER

Shoot him the moon every chance you get....especially if he has company. If he says anything, tell him you'll quit the moment he turns his camera away from your house. |

You have no expectation of privacy outside your residence, your in public. Get a lawyer and sue them. |
|

Dogzilla

It depends on where he installed it. If it's on his property, and he can justify what he is looking for, there's nothing you can do. After all, it IS viewing the OUTside of your door. |

if you are in england..get some answers from the citizens advice bureau and see what they say. i think it is an invasion of your privacy personally, so i would want a court to order him to remove it...and if you like you can argue your own case..without solicitors. failing that - get one and point it at his door!! |
|

leave ur door open so THEN it's invading ur privacy and u don't have to really get anyone involved except the police. |

you could paint the lens everytime he is not home - gotta' sneak up on it though and he probably has other cameras anyway. How 'bout a BB gun? |

If you are renting you can contact his landlord to find out whether he has got permission to do this on their property.
If not you can contact your house insurance company and get a reduced rate because your home is more secure. Why has he got it pointed at your entrance?? |

1) Contact a lawyer
What about the charter rights and freedoms - wouldn't people have rights to their own privacey? A charter challenge. Meanwhile, build a high fence or grow some trees & scrubs.
Continue to love thy neighbour. |

see the local council, no one can spy on your property without your consent. it is an invasion of your privacy.then tell your neighbour you will have to use reasonable action to enforce your human rights, that should get them to react in a more slighty aggresive way and then you will be totally within your legal right to headbut the c**t and snap his f**king beak the b*st*rd. |
