I was at a small get together at a friend's house and my 500 dollar shoes were stolen by someone. I know who did it, but she is denying it. Can I file a police report? What will they do? Can I claim the shoes as stolen on the friend's house insurance? 500 dollars is a lot of money and I am not okay with just dropping the issue. Please help.
Additional Details
I can describe the shoes to a tee, and I have a receipt for them. The girl is 19, and I don't think she lives with her parents.

If you do go to the police and they get a warrant to search the house and do find a pair of shoes like yours, it will be hard to prove they are yours unless your name or some kind of a pen marking is on them.
One alternative would be to approach the girl's parents and tell them what happened. |

You could tell all your friends who were involved that if the shoes wouldn't shown up at the place until the time you piont,the police would come soon.
then what you would do is waiting.if the girl dosen't do so,you'll file a police report.
